Its a tough position to be in
If he dedicates an album to one of his genres the sales will suffer heavily, but if he keeps making albums with a mix of a ton of genres they will never ever get the critical acclaim
Scorpion he tried to appease that by choosing mainly 2 genres and separating them but there was no way he was gonna release them as separate releases bc keeping them together means double the sales numbers, but then it also meant that critics would grade it as 1 project which meant the rap fans would criticize the r&b side and the r&b fans would criticize the rap side which pans the album
Seems like he’s aware too, like he said “a classic is just ten of these” or whatever, but he just chooses to prefer the popularity over the acclaim
I think if he picks the right features and keeps it shorter than 18 tracks, the critics will view it better.
He's also has some of the greatest pop songs ever. So if he could add a couple of those to a highly technical, refined, mostly rap album, I think it would be praised by the masses

Ehhhh 18 way too much imo
His sweet spot would be 13-15
I agree tho, give me mostly rap (whether it’s rappity rap, pop rap like gods plan or singy rap like not around) a pop song or two and an r&b song or two with the right features and he might get the acclaim but I just have very little faith that that’s what we get
yepp Time Flies top 2 on the tape
also I keep saying this but I got a strong feeling that this will be incredible, he's really perfecting that smooth rap flow, like on Time Flies, Pain and Not Around
Well imo he perfected that a long time ago. I think he kinda got away from it for some reason.
There's none of that on Views and More Life and only a couple on Scorpion.
Seems like he's in the best space creatively since NWTS. Cuz he was on tour after that for almost a year and beef plagued the rest of the projects (even tho I like them). He now been off the road for a year and a half. So I'm crazy hype to hear the new s***,
Remove With U, Faithful, Grammys, Views.
Weston Road Flows replace Views as the closer.
Keep DVSN faithful outro as winter’s over interlude adding some cohesion to the album and a foil for summer’s over interlude
Classic

Well yeah that's why I said less than 18. 16 should be the max.
I'm just a little worried he'll lean too heavily toward the Pierre style beats and those kind of flows, if you know what I mean. Gimme Not Around and I'll be satisfied. He's going to have at least one mega smash because he always does. then the rest what you said

yeah you right, that NWTS era was something else.. Come Thru, The Motion, From Time, Heat of the Moment, I missed these good vibes on Side A, the closest we got to it was Elevate
Views is more boring than trash imo
with as much hype as the album had, the lack of energy or hunger throughout it always throws me off when I try to listen.

Well Mob Ties and Can't Take a Joke are kinda in that mold and then That's How You Feel and Blue Tint a little bit. The first verse on Time Flies and That's How You Feel have the same flow.
But yeah we need some more of that s***
None are truly trash but so many subpar drake songs on here man
Redemption
With You
Faithful
Grammys
Child’s Play
Pop Style
Fire & Desire
Views
All subpar to me
that's my list other than Fire & Desire which is legit good
Idk Scorpion and More Life are both so much better to me.
Immediate skips:
Hype
Views
Pop style
Grammys
Too good
Still here
9, with you and child’s play are also meh.
With You is bad
Faithful is bad
Redemption is aight
Too Good is bottom 10 Drake
Love Views tho
The fact that no one has mentioned a single caribbean influenced track is shocking to me.
I thought that was the main critique of the album. An unfair one at that
Yeah I mean I only skip too good due to I just dont be in the mood

Idk I think they both killed it
Umm I usually skip Grammys and Pop Style.
Grammy's would be the worst track on WATTBA by far and Pop Style is "boring" outside of the hook.
And I respect the opinions in here but Redemption and F&D are CLASSIC Drake RnB.
I also remember people saying the song 'Views' was underwhelming. I personally love it. It is a top 10/15 Drake song to me, like Sandra's Rose. Another rap song people don't like.
