@BadKarma It takes a little while to adjust and connect socialism to your actual reality when you're living in a hyper-capitalist, anti-human-well-being system, and that's where I'm at.

Just trying to be well rounded in what things actually are and have been up to this point.

But I consider myself very open to these ideas and want to learn more and become more well-versed. I'll be whatever I need to be tbh, to help the most people, all these buzzwords to get attention on political pundit TV's aren't really important to me,

but socialism is a good basis to remedy a lot of issues we've seen arise in capitalist systems I do think it does warrant a post-capitalist society

    I’m extremely anti-Capitalism so I’m with you

Pretty sure its integral within Islam one of the pillars to give to the poor correct?

So if u really bout your religion that's already one thing that's close to the point,

In my opinion if people really followed what jesus said about how to treat people it'd be much closer to socialism as well, but

cultures have to create a power structure around these religions and the power is intoxicating to where everyone loses sight of the better messages

I keep adding to my posts after u quote them my bad,

But yeah like I said, the labels don't matter as much, to a degree, except when it comes to dispelling untruths about socialism which is very necessary, because there's far too many.

I've also seen other posts of yours lmao. Anyways if your response to the question is wanting to do what you love and make money, then I don't think I can believe you've thought out how your ability to do that is impaired or enhanced depending on the economic system

  • Mar 17, 2021

I don't think centralizing power is ever good, and the socialism I think you support requires this. I'm a socialist in the sense I think people should help each other, but more in the libertarian socialist stance, where things are more community based

this is something i may disagree with you on, USSR did have some improvements of life for its people, but it should be seen as a failed state

That's the point of my response. To highlight that I haven't thought about it, for one reason or another.

    Hence political illiteracy

Which is fine for me, as far as you're concerned. I came to answer the question in support of you, not because I am particularly concerned with the subject matter.

What I was referring to your political illiteracy is that you're asking questions of your constituents, but writing off the answers from certain people. It's too typical behavior of those who are usually asking these types of questions. Which is why you remain dismayed at those who you consider politically illiterate. You haven't even offered a response to my answer besides complete dismissal. So anyone who feels like me or isn't read up on your subject matter, you brush off as inconsequential or dumb or beneath you. Isn't that typical of any politician?

And I dont care of your "support for me" whatever that means. I want you concerned with the subject matter.

And no, I'm writing off those that continue to regurgitate myths in the face of all the available facts.

I like the idea of socialism, but I have a hard time comprehending a lot of the theory, so it feels disingenuous to call myself one. I have definitely felt that there is something fundamentally wrong with capitalism for a long time now, tho.

You also already said you arent concerned with the subject. If you dont care, the only question is why dont you care. You said you just want to make money and do what you love. I cannot make you want to a***yze things or come to care about this. The failings of capitalism are all around us. If you dont care to learn about them, which is what you've said, then any discussion is pointless

    What parts are difficult

A lot of it is pretty intimidating. I'm not stupid by any means, but sometimes I feel like I'm not smart enough to understand a lot of the theory. I've read Fundamentals of Communism, which is pretty straightforward and easy to understand. Then The Communist Manifesto, which was also pretty easy. Then I tried to read Das Kapital and was like f*** this. It made my head hurt. I also have a hard time retaining the information that I read. I'll be reading and stuff will make sense while I'm reading it, but a few weeks down the line I may only remember bits and pieces.

I also think that it would be disingenuous to call myself one, because while socialism sounds right to me, I don't actually do any type of organizing. I spend most of my time at work, and when I'm not doing that, I'm spending time with my family or at home. I don't know any other people that really share my political ideals. Most of the people in my life are either apolitical or liberals.

Well it took you 3 or 4 posts of dismissing me outright to say even this.

I came into this thread because the title caught my attention. There's obviously a level of interest of discussion, because otherwise I would never have walked in here. Again, at this point I'm only commenting on your political illiteracy. I answered your question, but you didn't even attempt to present a thought process to me of any kind. You just dismissed me and my response based on assumptions you made, unprompted.

Anything I was interested in learning about was marred by your intention to dismiss me to my face.

so far synopsis is pro "make all d**** legal"

    and is a socialist...

better than incarcerating people for a long period of their life for non-violent offenses

and wanting prison investors/companies to make money off of those people doing labor for like little to no pay a lot of times because they're stigmatized as the underbelly of society when it's actually disproportionate targeting a lot of times and never actually wanting to get to the root of crime/the problems that cause it

I don't think thats fundamentally confused. I think thats fundamentally natural.

Since the dawn of civilization there have been people living in excess. It's human nature to want more because we are naturally selfish and because we want to leave things behind for our offspring.

I want to make a lot of money and buy a lot of nice things in my life because it makes me happy. And then I want to give all of those nice things to my kids so they have a stronger foundation to do even better things for their kids.

But you were raised this way tho... It's a far shot but same way people are not raised calling black people hard R now as they were not so long ago if we lived in a fully socialistic world people wouldn't be raised on a cult of money

You would be making posts on KTT4 saying "It's just human nature to share If I have 5 apples but I only need one why wouldn't I share the remaining 4"

just saying tho I'm not gonna read the whole discussion on here

    "Theres a level of interest"

"Only came in here in support of you"

Two contradicting statements. And I told you why. If all you are concerned about is making your money then idk what to tell you..Also we dont have to pretend you dont have posts regarding owning property and being a business owner. It's almost obvious as to why you wouldn't be a socialist. If you're truly ignorant to the failings of capitalism then perhaps you can learn and be better. But if you dont care to learn, then theres no point. This thread also isn't a "come learn about socialism thread "
