I am always going to prioritize myself and my family before others.
I have a standard of living that I want to keep. I'm sure many, many others do as well since only 10% of the country is below the poverty line.
I'm just asking questions to know how I will be affected by socialism because I think it's fair to know what people who are living comfortable lives (most people) will be giving up.
Are we evil bc we want better things for ourselves and worked to get them ? 😭😭😭
No currently theorized form of government is properly formed to address the threats of climate change. Capitalism creates excess, causing significant unneeded waste, but competition creates greener products at lower costs. Communism avoids excess, but less of a need for green progress of coal and other fossil fuels being a profit. Publicly funded capitalism, where the government directly invests in & owns startups through charters. Do you want to create an EV company? Create a charter to the government, get it approved, and through a gov’t jobs program receive UBI until the company is profitable. Want to create an urban farming startup? Same idea. Govt owns equity in all businesses with a minimum of 15%, but the gov’t funds competition and profits from it.

Many People work harder than people who are rich btw
People need to be taught that property ownership is not even beneficial for them if they value housing. The state can and should provide secure tenancy. You can live in a state house your whole life without any issues. Not only that, but all repairs are done for you. It is also less commitment because you can just leave whenever you want without having yo deal with you the housing market.
There is no benefit to owning a house vs living in a state house outside of the selfish need for profit and fear of the capitalist system these people will defend.
The only reasons property ownership exists is because people want to pass a house onto the kids who then sell it. They only want to do this because capitalism has taught them that housing is not a right and we are all out for ourselves. The other reason property ownership exists is because people have been abused by private landlords.
It blows my mind anyone wants to own property. I lived in state housing most of my whole life until I started living in a caravan last year. Never had an issue with state housing. It is secure and convenient.
If the argument is that they do not trust the state with housing then that argument also applies to private property because the state has the power to confiscate that.
wtf 😭😭

yall clearly havent read if you think socialism is viable
Prove it was driven by capitalism
I mean... disruptive industries and advanced technologies are more profitable. What exactly are you suggesting as an alternative reason? These are businesses, they're making decisions that make them money. What else do you think makes companies innovate? Random chance?

EDUCATE UR SELF
EDUCATE YOUR SELF
How about you stop gatekeeping education and educate yourself

okay? what do you suggest I do to further "educate" myself?
Idk im pretty sure most people would call tesla an innovative company...
And I was responding to his point that capitalism has stifled green technology, yet the largest companies are innovating in green tech right now.
USA has socialism for corporations. Tesla has been loaned and subsidize over 2 billion dollars by the government. Innovation is not exclusive to capitalism, as it has intrinsic value, and would still be valued in a socialist society.

The argument was about whether capitalism stifles innovation, of f***ing course people want innovation no matter what system exists. And most people (including me!) think that it's a great idea for governments to perform research and give funding to private companies to accelerate innovation and growth.
Empathy and capitalism simply do not mix.
The capitalist at the very top will never support providing everybody shelter, healthcare, and equality of opportunity because those things would mean a widespread redistribution of wealth which means less money in richest peoples pockets.
At the end of the day, if poor children are eating three meals a day that means billionaires won’t be able to their 18th yacht and beach house mansion in Cabo, so it’s in their best interest to insure that those children starve.
Well here in Canada we have health care, generally have shelter for most and general equality in opportunity. Maybe not everyone will get to take on those opportunities but they are there.
They do mix but the problem is we have a winner takes all economy which needs to be stopped.
In places were socialism was tried there were still starving children and vast poverty. The next thing people then say "oh it wasn't done correctly". It doesn't work in totality but some of the ideas can mix with capitalism.

Or maybe those countries were bombed and sanctioned by the US
And Cuba has been vastly improved under socialism
