Can we get this thread poppin? The socialism thread is full of tankies and I donβt belong there.
Post some s*** and start a discussion bro
Then how come many of the worlds social democracies have literally never colonised anyone
Colonisation was in part about power over other euro countries- the resources acquired could have been acquired through trade, but werent
The real builder of wealth is industrialisation. Any country can indiatraialise.
The idea colonisation is necessary for social democracy is false
I'm a bit busy but I'm happy to engage you further in time. Your argument is well founded and in good faith
would any of you consider the USSR to be a socialist society and if so, why?
@op what does the term "free" mean and how are 'constraints to freedom' viewed as?
Diet coke is better for you than full sugar...
socialism is flawed, social democracy takes the best of both systems
Diet coke has literally been proven to be worse for you than regular coke, multiple time
Diet coke (and other diet sodas) essentially make you fatter quicker than non-diet

Fine then
Non alcoholic beer is better for you than alcohol

It also doesn't result in any change after drinking it
Any book recommendations?

Ive read it years ago its okay
Its a good starter for those interested
Demand vs supply side economics
I believe more in demand side since it empowers the consumers and ensures proper taxation

need a source lol

Supply side is just wasteful and leads to things like we're seeing today with federal bail outs of big business
@op if u dont mind im just curious on ur opinion on. Jeremy Corbyn, and the current trend that the Labour Party is heading.

The labour party moving left was something I welcomed
I don't like all the people he had in his circle. MPs like Richard burgon and Chris Williamson are horrendously bad
So economically I welcomed the change, and even now under Keir the party is still left of where jt was for most of the past 20 years
As for keir himself, I think he is boring and has no charisma but I generally approve of his actions as leader
Social democracy was invented in Germany
Social democracy started as a current within socialism in Germany which had the first social democratic party of the world, then it became Marxist for many years, then in the period before World War 1 the gap between revolutionary social democrats represented by Karl Kautsky and reformist social democrats represented by Eduard Bernstein grew too strongly and social democracy became its own thing gradually, mostly because reformist social democrats were in favor of World War 1 while revolutionary social democrats opposed the world war
Lenin was part of the Social Democratic Party of Russia for example and advocated for emulating the German social democrats right until 1917
Most social democratic parties were explicitly socialist until the Cold War started, for example the German Social Democrats only removed anti-capitalist goals from their program in 1953
Crazy how socdems try to erase their own history
Question?
Does this also Overlap or Bring into play Libertarianism and Classic Liberalism?
Cause if so, I'm possibly in..
