Like a job with a cool hip trendy appearance you know what I mean?

You can also take a job as a Social Media intern or something to get to learn how to keep a page running. I know getting a social media internship is easy to get if you are learning.

Bro any "cool job" requires social media clout, they asked me about my follower count at a job interview for a f***ing clothing store once

I get that completely, however it isn't super hard to make a following from what I've seen from my family and peers, I don't have one myself but I am going to need one in the next couple years since I wanna be an artist. If anything, a LinkedIn would be just fine, anyone you used to work with can work out, and you don't even need a lot of connections. Remember, not everyone is super social, but you don't really need to be with such a big platform.

Look at the job market, Social Media and the internet has made it unnecessarily difficult for job hunting. All these filters, personality tests, social media checks for the simplest tasks.

I replied to this post but I meant it for another user, but the same thing kind of applies. Social media is easily accessible, which means you can gain a following much easier. I can say that so far, I have no had to have a social media for the jobs I've had, but I am hoping it doesn't change soon.

If you think about it, social media has actually made life harder. More expectations, perfectionism is now a common issue, depression and anxiety as well as anti-depressant rates increasing more yearly than ever before, and yet like you said, it's so common that more people now feel isolated than ever before.

I'm so glad I was basically done with high school when phones started getting decent cameras

Ive been dubious about making friends online just off the anonymity of the internet alone.

I grew up on the internet, and thankfully had the wherewithal to not post info bout myself all these years. So that skepticism kinda put a wall between me and making meaningful relations online

Yeah I feel like kids who were born in 1997 and before have a harder time to make genuine friendships online versus zoomers cause of how open they are online. I still have safety rules ingrained in me where I still don't know my discord friends real names with halo customs. Half of the people here who recognize my account, I never went past just online acquaintance

This is why Snapchat gets such a bad rap because you need friends and an interesting personality to make that app worthwhile

Dead ass. I didn't even get my phone until I was like 18-19 some piece of s*** flip phone you had to like press the buttons a bunch of times to get to the letters you want and s***. Kids have access to everything and anything now. I think it might be a bit overwhelming for them.

i don't read comments on ig or reddit 😖.. x_x there's possibility that it could ruin my day

  • Aug 27, 2020

    True

There are some people I've formed some good connections from online like few years back, considering that couple of them I'd be seeing them irl at some point in the future. If I'd try to form connections with them here in 2020 it'd be nearly impossible tbh

social media sites are great platforms tho', imho. just gotta avoid certain things and recognize when it's another individual that's ruining your experience on the site and not the actual platform. reddit is a blessing but it gets so much hate on here..js

RT though some online "friendships" are completely pointless unless you intend to meet them some point in the future

I understand what you're saying. Everyone promotes themselves on social media to an extent even if it's just you. Girls be thinking your weird nowadays if you don't have a Facebook/ig. Social media is a new normal these kids grew up on that s***.

The fact that kids are getting indoctrinated (by both sides) at such young ages nowadays is truly the nail in the coffin for the people ever uniting as one and securing a more positive future for all of us

We were supposed to be the generation to get past all this purposely divisive bullshit propped up in our faces by the rich ruling class

By the time we all realize it, it’s gonna be too late

I thought old racist people were gonna just die out

But theyve planted seeds of racism and hatred to keep this s*** going for generations and generations.

Okay side note I kinda miss Instagram and Snapchat from like 2015-16, was more simple and not as overwhelming

Sorry I'm just reminiscing about those times

That's actually a good point, more kids are exposed to the real world at an early age. Seeing all the posts, they might learn super early on how the world works, which isn't always a good thing being surrounded by other kids in the real world.
