I still don't think that was a slave joke, it definitely seems like a jab at the "messiah" persona people have gifted Kendrick with

I know lol I am saying when they are equating it to slavery its said someone has a slave deal or overworked forced to drop content all the time

Ye said it on the Lucian verse that lead to a cease and desist like let the joke fly we know he made 440 million but he keeps dropping content

if he can say "Kendrick make a song for the swifties" he can handle the joke

he quite literally has less descendants of slavery than many of this on this forum and we not offended for him

    HURRY UP THOM

    Few things

    1. Jeremy Rose has always been and currently is credited for his contributions on HOB, you can see that for yourself rn lol Jeremy was salty that Abel, Doc, and Ill used the sound he pioneered; but he’s still credited for his work

    2. You all keep talking about “something in return” or “returning the favor”, but it seems pretty asinine to me to think that someone needs to literally sign their life away because someone put a spotlight on you early in your career

Again, if Drake truly felt that the only way for Abel to “repay him” was to sign to OVO, why did Drake offer to work/help him in the first place when XO made their intentions clear from the jump

He wasn't properly credited nor was he paid whenever Abel performed or profited off these songs containing Jeremy's contributions until the Trilogy re-release in November 2012. He talked about it earlier that year

Fact Check: A History of Abel hiding Jeremy Rose, removed credits and unpaid royalties:

Jeremy on coming up with "The Weekend"

What was your personal relationship like with Abel during this period? Would you say you were friends?

We were just trying to work on music. We were also partying a lot. We became pretty good friends, hanging out every day. At first it was working pretty well, but then I don’t know if it was a change in his heart or the people around Abel trying to guide him, but he was starting to push for doing club tracks and I didn’t really want to do that. We started as a group; it was he and I, and we called ourselves “The Weekend.” I came up with that name, by the way.

How did the “e” get dropped?

Well, I left. He dropped the “e.” But he was pushing for some things I didn’t want to do, and it got to the point where he wouldn’t respect my opinion. He wanted me to produce for him without any of my input. And I was like, “Well then, what’s the point of being a group?” and he was like, “You can just be my producer,” and I said, “Are you going to pay me?” Then I realized he was not going to pay me. That’s why I backed out. I was like, “You can have those three or four tracks, I’ll give you the stems, just take ’em, but I don’t want to work with you anymore.” I was really congenial about it, but I told him, “Just make sure that you give me credit,” and that’s where things went sour.

Jeremy on being in the background, taking the high road,, Drake's acknowledgment, and not being mentioned by Abel throughout the Trilogy era

If you Google around a bit, there are certain blogs that do give you credit—the early adopters, I guess.

Yeah, but that’s because they were the ones who were up on us immediately. It was Jeremy Rose and Abel Tesfaye. It took a long time for it to turn around because it was all word of mouth. To the early blogs, I was still part of the group. But then when the New York Times and all the big guys started covering it—

Yeah and this hot-shit unknown producer. A lot of people started claiming that 40 Drake’s engineer was making the beats.

    Yeah…

    Did that piss you off?

I was flattered that I was being compared to 40, but at the same time, I wasn’t getting any recognition! I didn’t want to go out of my way and be like, “No! I did it!” because I feel like that would have looked bad. So I was pretty quiet about it.

Were your friends and other people around you encouraging you to say something? To call him out?

Oh, yeah. Everybody around me knew what was going on and thought it was bullshit. But I was just trying to take the higher ground because they Abel and his people were being b****es about it. I wasn’t even going to get into it.

Has Drake ever contacted you about anything? Has he ever acknowledged your existence and input?

He knows. I heard that he knows I’m around, and I heard through my manager that 40’s manager really likes my s***. I hear that from a lot of people, other producers…

Yeah, but what does that mean at the end of the day?
What does it mean? F***in’ give me money laughs.

So you haven’t received a cent from anything the Weeknd has released?

No, not yet. We’ll work on it.

Pitchfork would go on to expose Abel's attempt to retroactively remove Jeremy out of the credits in early 2012 prior to Trilogy's re-release

When Pitchfork reviewed the Weeknd's House of Balloons last year, we originally credited Rose (who now operates under the production name Zodiac) in our review. When the review went up, we received this e-mail from Weeknd crew member La Mar Taylor:

"to whom ever this may concern, i am a rep for The Weeknd and it has been brought to my attention that there is an error in the article you guys wrote up for best new music. Jeremy Rose was NOT a producer on the album. Doc McKinney and Illangelo helped compose the songs on the album with The Weeknd. Look on the weeknds tweets and friendslist for proof. Jeremy Rose is not mentioned atleast once"

Carlo Montagnese-- the producer who goes by the name Illangelo-- also emailed us, saying: "Joe Colly's album review credits Jermey Rose on production, this is incorrect. Production on House Of Balloons headed by Doc McKinney & Illangelo."

No one from the Weeknd's XO crew responded to our requests for comment on the VICE article.

These allegations were debunked and Rose received his credits for the November 13 2012 re-release of Trilogy. Almost 2 years since they originally posted their 3 original collaborations in late 2010

Right, so when XO decided to profit off of the mixtapes, he was properly credited and compensated. They were both 20 year old idiots at the time, and Zodiac has forgiven and forgotten about the whole because he was credited and compensated.

Do u wanna answer my second point?
