Drake makes music to be played at functions or in the whip which is perfectly fine.

If he doesnt wanna speak on it then he doesnt have to. Him being black doesn't mean his automatically obligated to speak on the state of affairs.

Yall acting like a Drake floyd bar is gonna suddenly get white people to start liking us

  • Sep 28, 2021

Yeah so people can call him fake and say he's doing it to pander and say he has no clue what its like to be black in america. With the amount of s*** hes accomplished in his career they are never celebrated as black achievements for some reason

People only care about artists speaking up on social issues when it’s in the public eye but have an artist bring up some social issues on their own and they get labeled corny and pretentious

So, if this person deserves scrutiny for his actions.

What are we supposed to do about Kanye West and Lil Wayne?

Great artists but are we really gonna act like their coonish statements didn't have just as much of a negative impact as not being outspoken enough?

Ya'll gotta keep that same energy and not just on rappers you don't like.

When wayne was the biggest rapper he def addressed black struggle. The same with Ye lol

bro when black people cry out it falls on deaf ears
people literally want woke music .....TO DANCE TO
like what is gonna change after 3 mins of a woke track?

Uhh who says it has to change anything lol thats where your own issue comes from.

Who says the music has to effect anyone outside of the demo its meant for?

The music is for those its intended for, & to relate to those people. The audience likes to know that someone "bigger" than them feels their issues no matter how trivial or big it is. Plus its just nice to hear someone else reflect, relate or speak on something you are also going through or similarly going through.

Also, being fake happy is worst than being genuinely angry/sad imo.

The same people pretending to care about this never cared when Jay Z didnt do it, 50 cent, and are the same people reminding every1 drake is half jewish.

Drake doesn't need to speak out on something in his music the same way kanye doesn't need to pretend to be pro-black anymore

    This is pure facts.

  • Sep 28, 2021

Most people dont think music is going to change the world lol thats not the point of wanting "substance" music.

But people do want some kind of music to an extent to reflect reality of situations or at least emotions.

Its part of the reason "violent" Rap is so popular, even in places that isnt part of the demo. To express n relate to anger.

It is an angry time right now.

  • Boston is a terrible piece of s*** city. But to act like Roxbury don't exist really exposing y'all don't be knowing s***.

I know we're not suppose to look at mainstream rap artist/albums for conscious lyrics. But after all the s*** that happened in this country last year, i would expect the biggest rap album of the year to have at least one lyric mentioning or addressing what occurred. How can you call yourself the leader of the culture when you're not even speaking up or standing for anything within the culture. Even eminem spoke up for blacks more than this guy did and he got killed for it.

who are you even talking about, how you sneak dissing on a forum

You're switching it up though. They were still relevant and active when they made those statements.

If rappers deserve scrutiny for not rapping about it enough, they should also get it for sellout comments in the limelight.
