The controls are far from amazing man, the pause when homing attacking enemies is really annoying and midair control when jumping or going down from a spring is the exact same as Sonic 06. Overall I'd personally say they're just decent, but running in thee over-world does feel good.

What?? Chaos Island is by far the best island once you open it up. Admittedly, it was really annoying when you first get there. But it connects really well.

I can’t wait to see how they connect the Ancients/Chaos Emeralds/Starfall Islands/etc. to wherever tf the Master Emerald and the floating island came from.

I was mixed on it my first playthrough, cause it was hella disorientating. But it grew on me by playthrough 2

That’s fax at first I was like wow hella 2D but second time I played thru the game I was like yknow this s*** kinda lit sonic runnin w all chaos island’s wild scenery as a backdrop

That little sxn where the gray death egg robot dude is your background then you got that whole ass underground temple

He controls pretty well on the ground in general, but his midair control is just bad man. Don't understand how you can say that feels amazing.

the other two felt more like a gameplay gimmick tbh. If it was a story thing shadow would have been multiple times over more useful

Chaos island is absolutely dog s***. It's so ugly and janky. It's so clear they ran out of ideas or budget for the 3d open world because half the island is those flat planes and 2d sections.

It's almost hilarious how they started adding springs and dash panels to those gift totems as filler

So the aliens built the chaos emeralds but the master emerald that has complete control over them already existed somehow on earth?

Tbh part of me wishes they just centered the game around the echidna tribe. It all works. The chaos emerald/master emerald harnessing architecture. The chaos esque creatures. Coco being chao ripoffs.

It was all there idk why they didn't go for it.

i rly like how in touch sonic team/sega pr ppl r with fans. like the "homing dash" was a strat discovered by players n we dont rly know if it's an intended but hidden technique or if it's just an unintended consequence of sonic's movement in this game

but regardless sonic team pr is just like "yeah we think that's cool too let's put out a video telling everyone how to do it"

Speed runners found a way to essentially do an insanely high jump over an invisible wall and skip to the first boss.

Sega decides to, instead of patching it, create a donut sized hole for people to continue speedrunning using this method.

They’re just great with interaction.

I think all the emeralds already existed and the aliens found & harnessed them

Last island is the most fun imo even though I do wish it had a new theme it still had striking visuals and cool layouts

Super sonic is supposed to be invincible but their mussels can decimate him into nothingness

But this game takes it to such different levels
