death penalty should be abolished at least from the goverment determining who should live or die.

I get they’re volunteers and all but something seems off about having a group of people kill a person because he (likely) killed people

Don’t really get the point of the death penalty either when it’s not a deterrent for heinous crimes, takes sometimes decades to happen with the appeals process and has killed enough potential innocents to strike alarm. Life without parole seems far worse

It’s flawed but I’d rather have people like child predators eliminated than pay for them to live out their days in a cell

thats where i flip flop on because i used to be 100% for death penalty but reading how many times the state has goofed up makes me hesitant. but i agree that pedos should die first and foremost.

that has no effect on the cost lol

even if someone is on death row and doesn't get executed, it's still more expensive. death penalty involves a bifurcated trial (you get tried twice) so it's inherently more expensive

honestly firing squads make the most sense

The death penalty is a thing because people do terrible things which forfeit their right to live. Firing squads is more efficient and doesn't require 20 year wait.
