so the finale releases today?
Yup. Chris has a launch day live stream on youtube if anyone is interested
Still on the amazing Demon in White but SHADOWS UPON TIME OUT TODAY!
I wanna jump to it now but I am committed to my reread.
Just started Ashes of Man
Just picked up my copy of Shadows Upon Time from B&N
I'm still on DiW but loving it so far holy s***. I can't believe I didnt hear about this series before.
Some reviews said side characters weren't the greatest in this series. I say they're wrong.
The Emperor, Bassander Lin, Valka, Switch, KHARN SAGARA have been great characters so far (Book 1 to 2)

Made some of the Red Company in my modded XCOM 2 Playthrough. Hadrian, Valka, Palino, Corvo, and Bassander Lin
Got 15 chapters left in DG, hoping I can finish this weekend and get into SuT over Thanksgiving weekend

Also slightly related but Ruocchio announced his next series at the SuT release party. Was reading some notes from people who were there - sounds like it’s a Mediterranean inspired fantasy trilogy. Voice actor killed it, I’m interested in it for sure

Man Kharn Sagara is one of the coolest characters in fiction imo 😭

So hyped for this
So hyped for this
Just learned that apparently the guy who did the voice acting in the trailer is Ruocchio's personal friend who also voice acted Dom in Gears of War
Have started demon in white
This could be the best sci fi I’ve ever read.
What were your final thoughts/rating on HD bro

I am mind blown. So intrigued on how things are gonna move forward and why hadrian seems to be chosen by the quiet
Started Shadows Upon Time. 12 chapters in so far. There is a… tonal(?) shift, I’m not sure how I’d put it. Well there is a way I’d put it, but it might taint some people’s perception of the book in a negative light. At least for me I have to actively guard against my own biases at some points so far. Gonna keep it vague.
I am enjoying the book so far though. There has been some moments where it’s like oh yea, he’s him
Finished DG tonight ….
I’m gonna need to sleep on this one. I’m a bit torn on my initial feelings. I feel like this could land anywhere between second and fourth in my current ranking depending on how I land on some of the major decisions he made in this one. I respect Ruocchio’s bold decision making in the direction that he took this one, but I’m not 100% sure where I stand on some of the plot points he decided on here
But all I’ll say right now is justice for Cassandra!!! Man she could have been such a great character but she really got nothing to do in this book. I thought Ruocchio did really good on the side character in AoM but Cassandra was really just along for the ride and so one note. I swear it felt like every conversation between her and Hadrian was Hadrian trying to protect her and Cassandra arguing she’s too old for his protection and that she won’t leave him. Man I hope she gets more to do in SuT
I like the relationship that is starting out from Hadrian and the Prince so far (im only on chapter 8). Hadrian seems... different in a good way

Yea this was also my huge criticism of DG. Cassandra’s character felt incredibly hollow and felt like Ruocchio knew he needed to fill the obvious void left by Valka but Valka and Hadrian’s relationship was so unique (even compared to a father/daughter relationship imo) that was never gonna work.

I got to chapter 13 last night and am interested to hear the context behind your post. Are you talking about the way Annaz and Ramanthanu are kind of evangelizing Hadrian in their POV’s in these chapters? Or the way Hadrian has been talking about the quiet as the one true god?|| im not sure I’ve noticed a huge tonal shift so far ||unless you just meant the swap to multi pov in these first few chapters so I’m curious
