They do, however teachers currently do not deserve more pay. So long as they're stuck teaching a tired ass and old curriculum, students are given old materials, and teachers just teaching out of some old ass books; paying them more would do absolutely nothing. So my children get the same tired ass and/or poor education and end up falling behind, but the teachers get more money? That don't make sense.
Not against paying teachers more, but how about allowing teachers to create their curriculum for the students, and giving the necessary materials/resources to do so? As I have seen from most of my schooling, K-12 and college, teachers just regurgitate lesson plans that they're locked into teaching by the school board.

blame the districts for f***ing them not the teachers
and most districts are cheap and don't want to pay up for new s*** and as a side effect, don't pay them more

i misread your post sry and i understand your point, but why don't teachers deserve more pay to motivate them a bit more and give them more of an incentive to perform better because it's a job to teach the next generation

The money could be put to better use. Like not having kids read out of textbooks from 1963

i believe they should give money to upgrade the curriculum and also pay teachers a bit better for what i listed

Because providing teachers and students with proper resources/materials and an updated curriculum will lead to more effective teaching/learning respectively.
Which will then allow teachers to start getting paid more, as they will hopefully be doing a much better job, and therefore deserve it.
Teachers are only underpaid in small towns tbh.
My girl's first teaching job out of college is gonna pay 70k in NYC
Small town schools don't have the budget unless its a wealthy town
Teachers hate their job because they are underpaid lmaaaooo. Yall s*** heads were probably a******s to half your teachers that don't deserve it. And yall probably laughed along with delinquents who f***ed up regular classrooms.
40 hours a week is nothing lol
OP really in high school and never worked a 40 hour job with commute. I have my first job this year and s*** is mad tight for my schedule
OP has no idea how much ppl get paid to actually do nothing
It's ok breh just stay in school...

Wages are determined by demand and supply, not workload lol
Nah bruh. Teachers are some of the most valuable people on Earth that are made into soul sucking robots cause of the school system. You wanna know why public school is s***ty? S***ty public schooling methods

Yup.
The school system fails teachers from the beginning by already giving them curriculums outdated curriculums based upon testing the f*** outta students. And then teachers have no creative control. It makes no sense how Politicians govern the school system and not Experienced Teachers and people with classroom experience and know what kids need.
I'm literally not getting paid at all lmao and I'm 16
Look bruh. I'm 19 I used to be like that and hated school. But once you graduate you'll realize those teachers are apart of the same s***ty system and have to meet quotas or else they get pestered. Just like any other job. No creative control just testing students over and iver cause the school system wants it. Learning could be amazing but the way the government funds school and outdated methods of schooling still being used , it leaves teachers and students f***ed.

You're definitely right to an extent
But if you made a model that predicts wage based on supply and demand, you'd assume that the combination of low supply and high demand is correlated with high wage. The issue with this assumption is that you're ignoring the available money an employer can spend on a worker. Obviously you want the best of the best, but your initial spending power sets a limit on wage regardless of supply and demand. Essentially, the wage of an employee is a function of the demand/supply x spending power of your employer. Teachers are underpaid because there are a Lot of teaxhers and schools, but each school has limited spending power. So supply and demand is not sufficient for explaining wage.
Stop f***ing talking to me kid find a job
you're so ignorant
one of them "go find a job" headasses

Yeah but when the government budgets how much funding to provide to schools, it would obviously budget teachers’ wages using demand and supply and so you could argue that teachers’ current wages are appropriate.
Teaching is a relatively low-skilled occupation with relatively excess supply and so they don’t really deserve to have higher wages.
