Edit:
Didn’t mean to create negativity or spread hate at all with the original comment. I agree that this year there were definitely female artists who should have replaced some of these male artists.
My only point was that in the event that there actually were 5 male artists who put out the best albums, and 5 males got nominated, there’s always someone who would try to knock the nominations.
Again, agreed that some of the nominations for this year are not good, that’s why my original comment said “what if there actually were...”
Her album was mid asf too
My question is why is Chilombo up for AOTY and not R&B AOTY?
She’s up for alternative rnb aoty as well
I know jhene up for alt rnb aoty but idk the rest. Just like rap, rnb has 2 separate aoty categories
It doesn’t change the results this year, but it pushes what is almost typically wrongful pressure and scrutiny in the future
that i agree with. and i wouldn't have the slightest idea how to resolve that.
artists are sensitive. and PROUD, for lack of a more accurate word. and they have fans who are gonna ride for them and flip s*** upside down like what happened this week. so it's like, what is the way for them to get it right? there is none.
i'm wondering if there was this type of drama surrounding the ceremony in the past, like 80s and 90s. i'm gonna look into it.
what do you think can be done about the pressure you mention?

Really doesn’t seem like there’s an easy answer, but I think of some of these awards committees just stood up for themselves publicly it could help. It always seems like they back down to artists demands and public backlash.
she right man that’s an embarrassing r&b list. women dominating the genre rn
It's weird too cause no shade to r&b but who cares enough to sleep that catagory? Not like it airs on TV.
R&B grammy useless

Yes but i dont remember women dropping Rnb AOTY material this year.
Not to mention there are much better Rnb albums than the ones listed made by men. Men dominated this year when it comes to Rnb.
Women dominate Rnb but this year men kinda took it back for a minute.

put me on
Her album wasnt it but summer's should of definitely been nominated instead of ant's ep and john legend album
My question is why is Chilombo up for AOTY and not R&B AOTY?
Should be up for both tbh
And if it could only be for one it should have definitely been for R&b. Love Jhené but that album is not even sniffing AOTY. But she could have definitely had a strong chance in the R&b category.
