safeI get what you’re saying but if this was a viable option it would be being exploited way way more than it is now
We can look at the component breakdowns of the hot 100 and attribute the streaming numbers almost entirely to Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube
Everything else is too small to even warrant mentioning
Billboard are kinda scummy but they got pretty strict rules about what is valid to be counted and what Isn’t
Remember when they said facebook & instagram streams will count towards the charts? Polo G does have FB on lock too, so I wouldn't be too far off to say they actually pulled this scheme on TikTok too.

yea idk to me rapstar is just a decent song I’m just glad to see polo succeeding
But I also am biased towards it because it feels a bit more organic than a lot of the recent #1s which have been kinda pump and dump by labels to get the song to #1 for a single week then let it die

they are? I highly doubt that since you can easily manipulate stream numbers like that so don't think billboard counts them. Can't find any information on songs claimed by content id being counted as a stream.
If they did count streams from content id claims, all the label would have to do is pay a bunch of youtubers to use the song in their video and let them claim it to boost the numbers. The label/artist are still getting paid from content id but it's not helping their numbers on billboard.

Bro I can't find any article or source confirming when a song is claimed through content id that it counts as a stream on billboard. Can you link me a source? I have a decent knowledge of content ID on Youtube and have never heard of them counting as actual streams on billboard. Content ID system counts streams in order to calculate how much they need to payout but billboard doesn't use those numbers.

listen, the content id is how system recognizes the song on any social media platform, after copyright has been made. The streams come from views & plays of that song. which translate as streams toward the chart.

I mean, you don't actually need it in writing if you DO know how the content id initially works. For example, Lil Nas X went number one how? The streams bro. His stream would be non existent without the content id being recognized within his youtube videos or other social media platforms.

you’re right in that the marketing strategy was to pump the f*** out of the snippet and blow it up like that through TikTok and etc
But plays of the snippet and song on TikTok don’t get registered as proper streams in terms of charts - counting plays across thousands of snippet videos and etc would be borderline impossible so Billboard just get data from official sources for their charts
