I mean, you don't actually need it in writing if you DO know how the content id initially works. For example, Lil Nas X went number one how? The streams bro. His stream would be non existent without the content id being recognized within his youtube videos or other social media platforms.

Content ID was developed in order for copyright owners to get paid when their content is used. The numbers they collect from content id aren't used by Billboard to calculate their position on the charts. That's why i'm asking where does it say content id numbers are being used by Billboard. I can't find it anywhere.

technically a song can't have copyright / content id numbers but the material that is copyrighted CAN.

    vulture.com/2019/12/billboard-200-counts-youtube-streams.html

"Starting Jan. 3, Billboard will count the popularity of official music videos on YouTube.... User-generated content — like memes or cover versions — will not count."

This means they aren't counting streams from content ID towards billboard. If they did Billboard would become broken.

    But it wasn't a cover?

    Did you read the post?

"NOW, as the virality of Rapstar began to overflow BEFORE the actual release it had amassed tens of millions of plays on tiktok and youtube AND THEREFORE can be recognized as a true stream in totality of the release because the snippet and single aren't much of a difference

(Snippet was acapella & single had drums BUT then I guess it would still be valid as a sample and equal a stream because of the said song from the snippet was used in the actual single)."

What don't you understand by user generated content. It includes damn near everything not just covers.

Also it doesn't matter how many plays it gets on tik tok or youtube because it will not count towards billboard (only the official release on YouTube will count). The article flat out said what Billboard counts as a stream from Youtube. Like I said earlier content ID streams are not counted by billboard so it doesn't matter how many plays it's got before the content ID system claims the song

and that's the loop hole you're not understanding.

"A User Generated Content" By USING the content of another ARTIST, and that content was used in a official song. The content generated was basically the official release and IF IT WASN'T it had to be counted as sample THEREFORE qualifying the content as a valid stream, because 90% of the said content was acapella and instrumentation was literally used as the official release. It's not that simple. Like he could've bundled his way to number one bruh, no. It was a trick and it worked

And on top of that you literally said "Content ID streams don't count" !?!?!?! wtf counts then ????????

if people can bump smack that by eminem and akon, people can bump this. I dont find the song good at all but yeah the bigger you are, the more people gravitate towards you regardless of how average the song

I don't get what that classic collab with Akon has to do with this. It didn't even go number 1.

  • Yeah its a good song sounds like every other Polo g song though

How hard is it for you to understand that content ID streams aren't used by billboard They only track plays in order to payout money to the copyright owners but that's it.

Are you saying if I made a video and used Rapstar for a segment and it got claimed that the views my video got will go towards Rapstar's billboard streaming numbers?

It's a stream but it's not counted by Billboard. Like I keep telling you they only use it to calculate how much to payout to the copyright owners. It has no effect on the artists streaming number for billboard
