Not really, I have immigrant parents too. Obviously this generation is “softer” than the last one but that means nothing compared to good times and bad times. The guys who grew up during the hard times of ww2 ended up being the generation in charge of the country during the 70s and 80s, not exactly good times relative to now. The current generation ruling grew up in the 70s and 80s, which while worse than the present, were still better than what came before. And this is only to speak of America

Idk it’s been ringing true everytime i thought about it and it makes sense

Niggas in the old days wouldn’t b**** nearly as much as we do now. They’d accept the cards they were dealt and make do. Life forced them to.

Most ppl under 40 are ruled out of this distinction imo

Complacency, weak will and infinite lust for more is definitely ruling our generation (90s babes and beyond) because we can afford to

Yeah, but people complaining more often now doesn’t translate to “our parents made us have good times but when this generation takes over it’s gonna be hard times”

Crazy to me that all the war propaganda in my country (UK) is from people who never fought in any war lol.

Hot take, could the perceived weak willedness of young people be brought on by being bombarded with advertising designed to specifically trigger anxiety and self-loathing. It's not like today's youth were born into particular easy times

Even tho “quality of life” has improved over the last couple hundred years, ppl are more isolated than ever and depression rates r up... I feel like it’s ultimately abt the sense of community and belonging that u feel that uplifts ur quality of life regardless of circumstance

compared to just 80 years ago, Existential struggle is non existent in the developed world. That’s such a mini scule amt of time in the grand scheme of things.

Most people’s basic needs are taken care of

Whereas back then even your children had to work to even put food on the table. My dad and all his 6 siblings had to hustle every damn day at ages where me and you were probably thinking about Xbox 360 and Lil wayne.

You’re right about advertising. It’s entertainment / social media in general reinforcing this anxiety and self loathing.

the entertainment industry has been is most essential cog to everyday culture and societal norms since the 80s, and social media has been closing the gap rapidly, too.
