If it gets more people listening to DOOM then im for it.

DOOM was an AMAZING rapper, one of the best ever and his family should be good for life off of his work

    Jay Z is overrated

  • Nov 6, 2023

How are you going to say something like that and not explain

Are they saying his image has been overly commercialized after death to the point people who aren't familiar with his work are like repping him or sum ?

Is this in his head? I haven’t really noticed that

Casual rap fans still don’t fw doom like that. Most don’t even know him like that.

And long time fans of rap are familiar with his work but I feel like he’s rarely overrated by them

Doom been an icon in rap nerd culture since like 10 years before he died

  • Nov 6, 2023

Even if you're a passive fan, its not like you're glossing over how incredible his technical capabilities are.

God forbid someone just likes the Doritos Cheetos or Fritos meme or wants to learn the rap snitch knishes guitar tab. Godless society.

Yeah that was my take when I saw this, whatever he thinks happening now happened like a decade ago hence that pic of the DOOM Nike Dunks lol IMO

Yeah same, I have seen more people get into him after he passed, but that's natural and not really by much.

Would his fanbase be insanely cringe in the flesh at a show now compared to, say, 2009? yes. But have you been to an Earl show recently?

If anything, its the Eric Andre-ification of underground rap that's the problem

But I will say doom and dilla are kinda treated in a similar manner that I don't really know how to explain but that happened way before 2020

No. We talking about rap music, my bad. the threads about a new opium clone or Joe Budden getting his ass whipped or arguing about charts and sales and all that other bullshit are still there, lol no one stopping y’all from going in those.

Anyways, I never caught this growing up but didn’t hear the DOOM song until mad later anyway
