I disagree. The whole entire story you are on a mission to do something and all of a sudden you have a change of heart? That’s a cop out ending. #!A good ending would have been #!Abby killed Ellie or if Ellie killed Abby!

bro you clearly missed the entire point of the game if all you constitute with ending is the death of a character

pick up a book, broaden your horizons, read between the lines, I promise you that you’ll enjoy stories a lot more

No, a cop out ending is randomly changing the entire story in one instance for no reason at all at the end of the game.

If you went through the entire game and still thought Ellie should kill Abby, you're a sick f*** honestly

I honestly don’t get why people love a cop out ending so much?

Like the story being bad and characters unlikeable I can see people disagreeing on but people really enjoy a cop out ending?

Because that would take away from the entire f***ing theme and message of the game if that ending didn’t happen would be way worse and make me feel like that was a cop out

they literally take you to the roots of the character and understanding her pain only for mfs to be stubborn about ellie killing her at the end

it’s makes no fundamental sense to the story and or character lmaoo these kids are brain dead

for real. I literally saw people in tears that last hour of the game at how heavy things had gotten. They did not pull a cop out in any single way. A cop out would've either been Ellie living happily ever after and never going to find Abby || or || Ellie killing Abby in some epic sequence at the theater

The whole story was Ellie going after Abby and then she finally gets to her and doesn’t kill her? Also, Ellie left her lover to go kill Abby and didn’t even kill Abby. Ellie deserves death for leaving Dina if I’m being real.

like honestly at the time of playing this game I thought both characters had fair reasons for doing what they were doing. But in hindsight, Abby is honestly the only character in the entire story who is doing the right thing

How is her living happily ever after a cop out of the actual ending isn’t? It’s essentially the same other than Ellie has no lover vs has a lover

Its not though. Ellie loses everything and through losing her finger, loses the last thing she can remember Joel by

You can imply she makes up with Dina and Tommy and everyone, but even that would be a reach considering Tommy looks extremely far gone with how haunting that last scene is. Dina herself might be done with her completely too. We don't know because Ellie choosing revenge over Dina is an extremely sickening scene to watch

If that last hour doesn't happen and I say what happens at the theater happened, then Tommy has no more regrets and Ellie/Dina are happy with no other reservations

I like the fact that the game made you feel strongly enough to empathise with Dina

But like people have said, the idea of the ending is that ellie realises all this stuff she’s gone through just for revenge ISNT going to be worth it. It’s not gonna bring any peace and it’s not gonna fix any trauma.

Like THATS the ending of the game. That’s what the whole game sets up. So why would either one of them kill the others that’s just not the ending of the story

Mf enjot riding on the horse around for 2-3min to kill some random fodder every mission

    keep that trash

What a weak and reductive argument to dismiss GOT. You can say the same thing about TLOU2.

I can’t really agree with this because her murdering joel is an act of blind rage. Especially because of how ferociously she does it. She kills him with a GOLF CLUB of all things. I mostly agree with you though.

  • Nov 26, 2020

I think the fact that people are still discussing and arguing about the game speaks to its quality. Good art is not meant to please everyone. For me, the risks they took paid off.

  • Nov 26, 2020

If I ever were to lose you... c’mon man how is it NOT winning GOTY???

Think about it from her perspective (and really the entire world of TLOU)

Joel is like the equivalent of Hitler for his actions. He not only killed her father but he also ruined the entire worlds chance of a cure, so hes the reason for alot of pain and suffering. And I think it wasn't just her choice but she was kinda pressured to give him the worst kind of death because alot of people in that group and people in her surroundings in general lost people they loved cuz of him. So the hatred was pretty widespread in general.

He kinda deserved to go out like that
