Does the unmastered version really sound better
It gets rid of clipping but also makes the EQ sound unbalanced
Maybe because I’m not sound engineer but I never had a problem with the mastering
Man I don't care it still sounds unlistenable to me
get some better headphones
get some better headphones
You really think better headphones will fix the s***ty mastering?
killhoffer was on live this week talking about how it was intentionally mixed to sound like a 90’s wu record and not like a 2010 pop record

hey op look
Kanye told the engineers to make it louder than Jay’s records
No wonder it sounds terrible, BP3 already sounded bad imagine how much worse it could get
Badly mastered albums can still be 10s, just look at Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.
It's not bad to the point of stopping enjoyment, it's just a bit annoying to know that it could sound better if more care had been taken.
The style argument is fine, I'd just prefer it to be clip free and have more dynamics. I also prefer to listen to Donuts without vinyl crackles

That's true, the problem I have with MBDTF is just sounds overly loud and scratchy where it kinda impeded with my enjoyment of the album. Don't have anything against loud mastering, but imo this album just pushed it too far and it worried me about my hearing.
Even albums like Late Registration and Food & Liquor don't have the best mastering either, but at least their mastering was bearable.
Honestly I'll have to give MBDTF another spin to see what I feel about it, last time I listened to it was a year ago so I'm going off that.
Kanye goes for clean, crisp, loud mixes. Clipping is part of the future and is NOT a bad thing
OP mad that he cannot use his music theory degree as a scale for kanye's ability to make great music.
can someone point to parts in songs with clipping? ive heard this complaint a lot and kinda hear it but id love to have examples so i fully understand what people are saying when they point this out
Just leaving this here.
