It’s just not a good album. I grew up on house music and Baltimore club music and I can appreciate what Drake is doing trying to highlight it, but the songs on here leave a lot to be desired. I do like the instrumentals though. If I want to hear house or club music, I’m not turning this on simple as that. It’s a solid 5.5-6 for me.

6 or 7 is a fair score. There's stuff to like about it. I like it a lot because the album is hilarious to me. It's very simple/generic dance music. I know I've heard much better. But it ain't some terrible abomination. It's just Drake...over some passable house music.

Many people saw the immediate negative reception to the album as a prime opportunity to confirm all their negative opinions and air out all their grievances with Drake without giving the album a fair look.

People were WAITING for him to have a “miss” in the mainstream, and are jumping at the opportunity to get some Drake slander off. That aside, I don’t think the reception to HN is all that unique tbh.

People hated TPAB when it came out and it took a while for people to come around on it. When they set expectations and rappers subvert them with a new sound people get upset it isn't more generic rap
