Views was a great ALBUM. With everything that word means. From the intro/outro, the cohesiveness, the production, the hits and the album cuts. Experience of listening to it and how it has aged. Just to shortly name a few things because it is not really a theory or a deep breakdown about the album but more so what happened next.
The hate, that Joe f***ing Budden started, and that became a meme that got in peoples head was crazy. Which he has retracted a bit recently. Dude was high from d**** when he did that rant and he was just mad at the time. Maybe because of something we dont about there.
I think the hate from that and what people started saying got in Drakes head a bit too. Making and labeling his next album a "playlist", as a reaction to how Views was received, and then thinking he would do a double album like Big with Scorpion. He mentions this in his sit down with Elliot and Bdot, and that he as to do at least two things everytime he drops. To have everyone satisfied. Also, Scorpion was somewhat ruined with everything that happened with Pusha as far making a great project. They had to rush and redo a few things before dropping. Pretty hard to make a great album then. Even though it as a lot of songs I enjoy. Like ML also has for that matter. But they just not "good" albums.
Back to Views. He blends the introspective raps with some more hype tracks and flows too... Then there is of course the r&b joints. The hits and caribbean vibes. It was truly well put together. Despite it coming after the Meek stuff and as a reaction to that. They still took their time on it. Some songs I dont like on it, but thats neither here nor there.
I hope this next album is well put together and not all over the place, just focused on music and nothing else ruining this rollout. That they have made this not overthinking s*** or tryna feed in to what "haters" have said in the past. Trying to satisfy them, because you never will anyway. Make a great album, with great music. TC-NWTS- IYRTITL-Views was an incredible run of great projects. Each different but with similarities. Hope his next album is of that ilk. With that I mean a project with a great sound and content. It should everything we as fans enjoy, in a great package. That they have taken more time on this, I hope bodes well for this project. I hope the approach has been what Drake described in his sit down with this one.
I dont know why I made this thread but just had to get some thoughts off. Maybe some things sound like ramblings or "obivous" stuff, but the last 4 years has been really crazy when you think about everything that has happened.
Being on vacation in Toronto the week this released , Have amazing memories from this album.

cohesiveness? you literally go from a One Dance to a Grammys
Its a solid project at best it just didn't live up to the hype
Agree with everything @Bill_My_Zoot saying
A lot of people was calling it mid when it released
Okay... but it has aged great.
Also, I dont remember people calling it mid until after that rant.

He started the “uninspired” take
Which basically then was THE TAKE people started running with.

I don't use that word so no and I don't see what that even does. Please explain what is so bad about that line. I'm genuinely curious everyone always says that and the chaining tatum line.

Got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum

Lol really? that's so vague like what ways? I just thought of it as a passing line on a song that wasn't even meant to be super lyrical. Even if it's not the best line what makes it "trash" though? It had a decent double entendre to it and fit with the theme of what he was talking about. At worst it's just an okay line but niggas always using it as an example of what ruined the album.

it isn't a double entendre, no grown person is playing with Happy Meals
What do you have to say about the Channing Tatum line?
