what am i coping about dawg? im going to a restaurant to eat. the person serving me is doing their job, I don’t have to give extra $ to someone doing their job, and I definitely shouldn’t be expected to.

and no, me deciding to not participate in an optional system doesn’t make me an a****** in the slightest

even working in service positions b4 if someone tipped, ok cool thank you, if someone didn’t tip…ok cool.

there is a social implication that you tip a server for their service

you may view it as extra money but other view it as simply part of the cost of the meal

yes you are kind of an a****** because you are completely disregarding the other human taking their time to serve you. Im not defending tipping, because it kind of is a dumb/broken system but that doesn't mean you are not an a****** for not tipping

you’re right, i view it as extra $…that I can use for other things. I also want to add that I do tip from time to time, but I just tip when I see someone going above and beyond for me whether it be at a restaurant or at Walmart…but I’m doing it first and foremost because I want to.

Yes, the tipping system is extremely stupid as you acknowledged. Our tipping system is stupid for a lot of reasons,

It’s stupid bc u have restaurant goers basically holding ppls wages hostage in hopes that they do a good job “everytime she messes up or is late I’m gonna take $1 away ”

it’s stupid bc it’s gotten to the point that servers feel justified in not doing their jobs as efficiently as they would for someone who isn’t tipping

the tipping system is actually SO stupid that people have allowed it to be an optional system. Seeing that it’s optional, I decided to opt-out….isn’t that one of the choices offered??
