I feel like you purposefully dismiss the idea that people dislike Tyler for other reasons than
"he doesn't behave like black people want him to behave"
because you agree with Tyler that black people all behave the same and y'all are outliers that deserve the spot the popular black people have
It's a narcissistic and at the same time very insecure way of thinking, also quite racist which comes out in coonish behavior
Tyler with his n word bombing tweets and you with your "I'm black but I'm racist jk haha" gimmick
Liking "white s***" doesn't get you the acclaim nor authority in the black community - that's why y'all mad tbh, almost like you want an award for being "able to" like "non-stereotypical black" s***
"look at me I've overcome the blackness, I like linking park too" head asses
When in reality, hardly anyone cares until y'all wanna push it in our face and make people reward you for s*** they just don't care for
Here's why I think this ;
1) you never explained what this "non-stereotypical black guy" behavior is (unless I missed it)
After reading what Tyler tweeted, I think he believes that
"stereotypical black = hood niggas"
2) you ignore me telling you that Idc bout his
"" weirdness"", it's when I found out he was tweeting coon s*** on Twitter etc that I started feeling disgusted by his whole persona...
And distances myself (I don't even look up his skits anymore, couldn't be arsed lol)
Show me proof people didn't like his music because he liked skateboarding (??? 💀) and not because the music (sound and subject matter) just doesn't appeal to larger audiences of any race (which leads me to point 3)
3) Most people, regardless of race, don't like nor care for edgy people....and avant garde stuff
White people protested Marylin Manson and eminem more than black people ever cared to do...
So why is the focus on black people as if we're supposed to accept anyone cuz they're black? (even when they themselves want to distance themselves from what they think is "stereotypical black" stuff or as Tyler probably would put it : "n word with the hard r s***")
Not too mention every culture gatekeeps their culture lmao
4) You dismiss the fact that plenty of "weird" black people have made music that is regarded as black music, accepted by black people and even other communities
Michael Jackson and Prince got made fun of by very famous comedians but they were still respected for their work : I hate to be one to say it but...
Some nerds or self-proclaimed weirdos just aren't as special as they think they are
There might be a reason they only have niche support in other communities : having mass appeal (black, white, purple etc) isn't something they are good at by definition.
5) You seem to dismiss the idea that black music or black culture even is a thing (which goes against the defintion of culture btw)
Black people have a right, same as other cultures, to accept or deny people, concepts and trends in their culture - it's not a decision people make consciously either - every person identifies elements of their culture or recognizes the new art as apart of the legacy. when collective consensus is reached - it's apart of the culture
Tyler is def apart of black culture imo but he doesn't play as big of a role as he (and maybe his black stans) wants to play imo
He could be more recognized in the long run - just like many out of the box artist accross various cultures
His behavior towards black people in the beginning of his career was s***ty though and might have cost him that idk

"I feel like you purposefully dismiss the idea that people dislike Tyler for other reasons than
"he doesn't behave like black people want him to behave""
I am dismissive of it and explained why because most of these people don't hold other rappers accountable for this. I literally addressed this ITT
"because you agree with Tyler that black people all behave the same and y'all are outliers that deserve the spot the popular black people have"
I don't agree with Tyler I even called him a c00n ITT I've made it clear multiple times I agree that he's a a snowflake.
" Tyler with his n word bombing tweets and you with your "I'm black but I'm racist jk haha" gimmick "
What I'm black and racist gimmick?
"liking "white s***" doesn't get y'all (the "nerds" the acclaim nor authority in the black community as other artists perceived as lesser cuz they're "stereotypical black" - that's why y'all mad tbh, almost like you want an award for being "able to" like "non-stereotypical black" s***
"look at me I've overcome the blackness, I like linking park too" head asses"
You're going personal and attributing things to me that don't really jive at all with what I've said ITT. I wasn't a Tyler The Creator type growing up and I never really hung out with white people.
It seems like you're just angry at me now and attacking me in ad hominems
"When in reality, hardly anyone cares until y'all wanna push it in our face and makes people reward you for s*** they just don't care for"
Here's go that y'all and assumption that literally ignores my critiques of Tyler
""Here's why I think this "*
Because you had no points and decided to go for insults and making me into a Tyler The Creator type because I think his treatment is unfair.
1) you never explained what this "non-stereotypical black guy" behavior is (unless I missed it)
I did I was clear that it's "hood niggas" and as I did in another thread I explained why this is a harmful stereotype that even we play into hence why people allow "hood" rappers to slide with the same c00n behavior Tyler has.
After reading what Tyler tweeted, I think he believes that "stereotypical black = hood niggas
2) you ignore me telling you that Idc bout his "" weirdness"", it's when I found out he was tweeting coon s*** on Twitter etc that I started feeling disgusted by his whole persona...
And distances myself (I don't even look up his skits anymore, couldn't be arsed lol)
I ignored it because if you don't fit what I'm criticizing why would I then argue with you? I even stopped replying to your post because I realized you weren't arguing from an opinion I oppose so I left it at that.
If you aren't a hit dog then don't holler
Show me proof people didn't like his music because he liked skateboarding (??? 💀) and not because the music (sound and subject matter) just doesn't appeal to larger audiences of any race (which leads me to point 3)
I'm not an academic study I wouldn't be able to find that but I didn't say people didn't like him because he was skateboarding considering your emoji use it seems you're just taking this as a gotcha moment and not real debate so idk what you want.
*3) most people, regardless of race, don't like nor care for edgy people....and avant garde stuff
White people protested Marylin Manson and eminem more than black people ever cared to do... *
This is fine but white people don't say Marilyn Manson isn't white when doing so and don't center his race at the center of their criticism. Looking ITT at the amount of people calling Tyler "white" shows the fallacy in your point and others.
*So why is the focus on black people as if we're supposed to accept anyone cuz they're black (even when they themselves want to distance themselves from what they think is "stereotypical black" stuff or as Tyler probably would put it : "n word with the hard r s****
The focus is on black people cause I'm black why would I care what Mexicans do to Mexicans over Mexican culture?
No one is saying that people can't do that but people can have criticism of that choice. Also to be clear other communities face these issues as well of those they consider outsiders to those insiders it's the nature of tribalism.
Not too mention every culture gatekeeps their culture lmao
I rarely see them do it to their own kind tho to this level.
*4) you dismiss the fact that plenty of "weird" black people have made music that is regarded as black music, accepted by black people and even other communities
Michael Jackson and Prince got made fun of by very famous comedians but they were still respected for their work*
Both of them came in different times in black genres that accepted eccentrics in that way vs Hip Hop. I've actually posted about how the lack of more popular black genres outside of Hip Hop now has limited our ability to have black artist as expressive as Prince and MJ but that's a different thread.
*I hate to be one to say it but...
Some nerds or self-proclaimed weirdos just aren't as special as they think they are *
Again this just seems to be your personal beef with a group YOU think I'm apart of
5) you seem to dismiss the idea that black music or black culture even is a thing (which goes against the defintion of culture btw)
This is a lie literally my post is about Khaled an outside of black culture speaking on it I literally acknowledge it's existence on my OP and other post ITT.
Yet again you're applying YOUR viewpoint of me and my opinions ignoring actual post ITT. This is essential a hit piecer with misinfo to just attack me cause you got beef with self hating black kids
I'm not responding to your last points because they aren't relevant at all and are just you talking about culture again arguing against a point I never made which is that we don't have culture or some bullshit.
Its slot of other convos that can be branched out of post ITT and this Tyler situation.
The whole "Tyler use to he anti black" excuse needs to stop too cause it never stopped yall from letting Wayne live and his anti blackness was worse.
Bumping this post cause dude yet again brought up Tyler's past as an insult to him but Khaled is sliding by
He just doesn't act in a stereotypical manner in which we associate with blackness. If being anti black was enough to mean anything then Wayne and numerous other rappers who have said or done worse to actual black people would be cancelled but they aren't nor are they held to their past anti black statements the same.
Wayne has said way worse stuff about black people and he was older then Tyler was and it isn't brought up nor is he called white for it or distanced from black people.
As far as Khaled says he frequently said bigga and when called on it doubled down.
Again another post in which I addressed the difference in how he's treated vs other c00n rappers
Yall just calling anything racist. Khaled was a hiphop dj way before tyler ever picked up a microphone so he has a right to speak on what’s considered hiphop. Tyler even said BET werent giving his music recognition were they being racist too?
A Arab man who said nigga proudly for years telling a black man he don't get play by black people vs a network run by black people not inviting a black man to the show.
Which is more racist to you?
Is Merriam Webster ignorant too?
culture noun
cul·ture | \ ˈkəl-chər \
Definition of culture (Entry 1 of 2)1a: the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group
also : the characteristic features of everyday existence (such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a place or time
popular culture
Southern cultured: the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations
Context is everything the way you framed your point was ignorant and I stand by that.
Being black is being black you can not embrace the culture but you will always be apart of it.
No one can take that away from you not even yourself.
Ofc they're black by society standards but their output isn't automatically accepted into black culture cuz of it
No one is sayin black people are a monolith
I didn't get past these past few pages ITT this is my first time seeing alot of these post btw
Prince did splits in 5 inch heels at his shows
What are you even talking bout? 💀
For his era that wasn't weird tho you're removing context this was in a time period where people especially black artist we're experimenting and had experimented all over
This was post Rick James and Gary Shower becoming famous for wearing a diaper
Infact Prince took a lot of his wilder style from older black acts and according to friends only embraced his sexed up image you describe AFTER touring with Rick.
Michael and Prince were not that unique for their time tho that isn't downplaying how they played with gender and black image they were following footsteps laid out by numerous other acts

that's it

Except you didn't use y'all you used "You" multiple times
Except you didn't use y'all you used "You" multiple times
I used "y'all" several times including when I said
"y'all ( the "nerds") "
And
Excuse me for thinking you're a Tyler stan when you made a thread on how unfairly he's been treated unlike other " coon rappers" and dj khaled rant is racist for mentioning barbershops
Then say that because some ignorant people itt call him white etc on a forum -it somehow confirms that he's been treated unfairly for not being a "hood 'nigga" and I'm just the outlier here for thinking people don't f*** with him (and like minded individuals) cuz he exhibits a self-hating coon behavior lmao
Maybe my confusion lies in you being able to reach for racism in a barbershop comment but not see that the same way you picked that up, black people pick up the self-hating vibes from Tyler and chose to distance themselves
I promise it has nothing to do with him not acting "stereotypically black"
About dj khaled using the n-word
He's wrong for that imo
I think he's from NYC and over there you have fat Joe and 69 who say it as well
Their excuses never made sense to me but I haven't seen any NYC rapper call them out so I figured they get a pass (despite me disagreeing lol)
I hardly gaf about dj khaled to begin , didn't know he was using the word tbh
Still dj khaled never gave me "I'm better than y'all hood niggas" vibes so there's that as well
the villain that got beaten at the end of the movie
khaled was legit shocked i dont think he knows what headphones are basically
A Arab man who said nigga proudly for years telling a black man he don't get play by black people vs a network run by black people not inviting a black man to the show.
Which is more racist to you?
My point was that this isnt a racial thing it’s cultural. Just because khaled is a different race dont mean he racist for criticizing tyler’s music like I said khaled been a part of hiphop way before tyler so he not really in the wrong here. He just an oldhead
Also nobody was calling this racist when it first happened niggas were laughing and making memes about it
