@wes whats the Kuro 2 TL situation looking like?
Don't think it's much of a thing from what I can tell. Seeing that the guy who was finishing up the rest of Kuro 1 (think it's almost 100% done now?) isn't doing 2, unfortunately. I did see the game just came out on Steam so I'm currently listening to the battle theme
edit: actually, looks like he might at some point? took a look at the Mega folder for the Kuro 1 translation and this is what it says.

I need it man Not expecting much, but I'll be very happy if I can play in English within the next two years lol. But yeah, of the handful of Kuro 2 songs I have decided to listen to, they've been really good. Been seeing people say there's some reused music from Kuro 1, which kinda sucks, but these new songs are great.
Been watching one of my friends play through the Sky games and it's been pretty good time. He's a bit into Sky 3rd rn, but he's taking his time with it. My best friend is currently working on that Chained Echoes game, and then once he's done with that, he's gonna binge the entire series. Can't wait to see him burn through these games
Also cannot wait to replay through Hajimari in July. The more I think about it, that might be my all time favorite. I'm sure playing it with more polish of an official release will cement that.

Azure coming soon as well
This year is really stacked for Japanese games. Wo Long, Azure, Ryza 3, FF16 and Reverie. FE: Engage just came out too. Hope nothing else comes out for a few months so I can have the time to actually play all of these

Forgot about Azure This year is pretty crazy for JRPGs. iirc FF7R Part 2 comes out this winter, but I don't see it being a 2023 release since everything gets delayed lol. At least all of those games are in the first half of the year. Might get some downtime once we hit July
After finishing up Triangle Strategy, I'm definitely picking up Octopath Traveler 2, especially if they took feedback from the first game. Really looking forward to playing that next month.
@redtruth may be eating soon
Damn the fanbase is really dedicated to this s***, love to see it

I was ready to boot up the MTL overlay to play If I didn't see that tweet, I probably would be playing this week lol honestly still might cop.... Hoping no C&D goes out for this.
@redtruth the Trails from Zero limited edition came back in stock so I just scooped that up Really hoping Azure goes back in stock at some point, though I'm sure it prob will.
Also, my friend has been playing the series for like 3 weeks now and he just started CS1 today My man is HOOKED
It's been really fun to see his reactions on everything that pops up. His brain froze when you get hit with everything in the Fragment chapter in Azure lmao.

Glad you was able to cop, I really love that game, also the zero art is pretty fire
Also yeah the trails binge gotta be one of the most serious binges when you get hooked, I remember playing nothing but trails for 3 months

Needed that Tio acrylic
Forreal man. He's a huge JRPG fan, but never really heard of the series prior to me mentioning it months ago. Basically just told him it was the equivalent of the One Piece of video games, sent him the King Recon vid, and it was over for him
Also really love that he's enjoying the games as much as I do. It's been cool to talk with more than one person about it lmao. Might try to get him on Fata Morgana next
Oh yeah, seeing that there's someone translating Kuro 2 from a Japanese speaking YouTube playthrough. They already got the prologue done, so I'm sure more will be done over the next few weeks. Pretty sure most of the menu stuff has been translated already as well. The dude translating Kuro 1 only has a single town left, and I believe he'll be working on Kuro 2 after he's finished everything up. I'm sure by the time you get around to the game, most of the progress'll be done.

Gonna be nice to play fully translated Kuro after Reverie
Have a lot on my backlog im hoping that by the time I get to and finish Kuro 1, Kuro 2 will be translated somewhat

At the very least, I'd imagine the main story would be all set, then maybe the NPCs are MTL or somethin. Still have like 4-5 months before Reverie drops, so they got some time to work on it before you get around to the game. tbh I'm surprised at how much progress they've made in just a few weeks lol.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Reverie and Kuro.
@wes NISA just dropped the Durante port of Kuro no Kiseki which is pretty much the only reason waiting for a NISA port was even worth it. I can literally just use a patch, play that version and have the same experience now from when they would actually release it. What were they cooking?

bro what
(eng localization coming at a later time)
what the hell this company doing man
but yeah man, def get the Zerofield/4chan anon translation patch whenever you get around to it. All the NPCs are now translated, so I think that's pretty much it lol. The CLE port is actually kinda solid too. Nothing crazy, but quite a bit better than their work on Hajimari. Kuro 2 runs at 165fps as well, so they're starting to get a hang of it.

Definitely just gonna just hop in after Hajimari now. That “english version will be supported at a later date” was the strangest way to announce NISA have started work on the translation lmao.

No kidding lol. Curious to see as to when the translation is gonna drop, though doubt we'll get any news on that until after Reverie comes out. I suppose it's nice to see they're actively working on these games. Even though this is the JP script, it'd be easier for fans to translate that over the CN/KR scripts, so I'm hoping something similar happens with Kuro 2 and beyond so that we can maybe get these a bit sooner.
Your best bet is to probably just get the CLE version since I'm sure that'll be cheaper whenever there's a sale. Pretty sure I got it for like $30 back in November + already has the translation all good to go.
Getting back in my sprite jrpg bag recently with octopath and chained echoes so it’s making me more inclined to play zero and azure updates
Already played cold steel 1-4 but never played sky trilogy or the crossbell games cus they were too dusty for me
Might play zero and azure before reverie drops in the summer

I would definitely recommend getting to the Crossbell games prior to Reverie since it's effectively the conclusion of both that and Erebonia's arc. Also, they're some of the best games in the series and don't feel super dated or anything.
Azure tomorrow @wes
Probably won't be able to play it since I'm going through the Atelier games rn buts its crazy that this is finally releasing officially in the west

Yeah, I don't think I'll get around to it anytime soon since I just watched my friend play it like a month ago lol. Hoping to snag a LE copy if/when it pops up on NISA's site again.
I've seen a handful of screenshots, and saw they added Juna and Towa as NPCs||. I know they were in one of the JP releases, it's cool they're in the game, considering they were in Crossbell during those events and show up in later games. Thought it was weird we never saw ||Juna, despite being in Crossbell for two games.
Are you on Ryza 2 rn?

I did think it was strange seeing Juna acting like she was with the SSS the whole time in CS3 so I’m glad they added her in
And yeah, think im 50% of the way through. Game is decent so far, bit of an upgrade in every aspect from the previous entry, story is a downgrade tho which isn’t good cause the story wasn’t even that good in Ryza 1 and some of the changes made to the combat are questionable. Probably gonna be done before Ryza 3, I really like the alchemy systems in these games even tho it trivialises almost every counter the more time you put into it

I know the series has extremely low stakes stories and aren't fighting some celestial being or something, but still sucks to hear the story isn't as hot. That'd prob be the main thing keeping me going, besides the alchemy stuff. Though it does seem like it'd be fun to min-max that and just delete everything lol.
Oh yeah, did you ever finish up Higurashi?

To be fair, from what I have heard from the Atelier fanbase, Ryza doesn’t really have a reputation for having a good story. I do appreciate these games for trying something different though with the focus on alchemy
Also I did finish Higurashi, powerful VN I love the characters so much man.
Ryukushi did such an insane job with Takanos character this chapter; instantly became one of my favs (Shion still my #1 tho) I love crazy b\*\*\*\*es lmao
Wasn't only Takano either cause even Ooishi had some really amazing moments in this chapter that made me tear up for him too
Akasaka finally being able to save Rika was hype asf, I can only imagine how hype it was for people that actually had to wait for these chapters to come out lmao.
Shoutout to these two tracks in particular that plays when Takano faces Hanyuu and when Takano finds her resolve||

!https://youtu.be/0jBMV0OSFJQThose characters are too good man. As I was getting further into the game, I kept missing the club games and them goofing off Really don't know how Ryukishi07 makes such likeable characters. Need him back on Ciconia so I can start reading that.
I know you were gonna link the You -Destructive- version Every variation of that song is stupid good.
Did you read Saikoroshi in Higurashi Rei? Pretty good epilogue to the finale, and felt more like a real ending to the story than ep 8 (I guess it is an epilogue lol, but I didn't get much of a feeling of an "ending" with ep 8 for whatever reason).
