People say AstroFest tragedy caused the huge delay in his output, but let's be real here, this guy was already three years in without dropping an album by the time the tragedy happened. Astroworld was cool but it wasn't "Blonde" or even "DAMN". It really hasn't aged well and is crammed with filler. One of the worst engineered mainstream albums ever made to boot. The idea that he felt he could rest on his laurels after that album is hilarious to me. It's Fortnite music
At this point, the buzz from Astroworld is gone, the few loosies he put out afterwards all sucked, his features blow, he doesn't even co-produce anymore, and he is consistently the weakest part of anything he is involved with. This literally happened after two years lol. Absolutely baffling how far and fast this guy fell. 2018-2019 he had it on lock and then by 2021 he basically lost it all.
Utopia is definitely going to be ass too and will underperform commercially.
Astroworld was easily Travis Scotts worst album and it’s not even close.
No one I know was into it. Rodeo and BITTSM were awesome though and everyone I know is extremely hyped for Utopia and all hoping it’s better than astroworld.

Jul 12, 2023I actually believe that Utopia will be a solid project but I just can't stand Travis. He is really the only mainstream rapper I can't really listen to. His voice and delivery is so monotonous, the lyrics are complete nonsense and the dark, moody aesthetic is played out at this point. Like there is nothing there to enjoy besides the production which is usually the strongest part of every Travis album.

I’m taking the TI narration over all the dumbass skits on Kanye’s first 2 albums. And I’d definitely take TI talking for 15 seconds over Chris Rocks 25 minute part on Blame Game lmao
I’m also not a big fan of the Weeknd track and it’s probably my least favorite on the album but a lot of people love that song. Imo there is no album with zero skips. You can’t please everyone with every track
If you don’t understand Kanye’s lyrics that’s fine. It’s very obvious that you don’t considering you just claimed that the majority of Kanye’s lyrics are bad.
It just goes to show how much things go over your head if you think Kanye’s lyrics are bad. He has some of the best lyrics in the game. How could he not when he has literally EVERYONE wanting to work with him on collabs. You think they don’t help him write? I do. It’s partly why Kanye has some of the best lyrics in music, extremely relatable while being extremely himself at the same time and also being very vulnerable. He’s always had vulnerable lyrics right from his first song on college dropout.
Oh and one more thing, you said Chris Rock at the end of blame game is bad? Really????? Everyone I’ve seen who hears that the first time absolutely loves it and laughs good. It’s at the end of the song so if you wanted to you could easily skip that part too. The song is made that way.

Maybe they aren’t as listened to today as before, but that doesn’t mean they “fell off.” Hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions, still listen, still buy tickets to shows, and these artists still make or feature on hit records.
Think music/number a***ysis needs to be looked at differently. Gunna & Thug supposedly flopped but both those releases were streamed over 100 million times, I just don’t get how this falling off

Adding on to my comment above, I would have to listen to 12.5 hours of an album for my streams to count as one sale.
Meaning if an artist is able to do even 50k, they had to get 75MILLION people to click on at least one song since numbers aren’t recorded retroactively (like if there’s a hit on the album)
All in all, the numbers and how we look at them is disingenuous. The total shouldn’t matter once you breakdown the a***ytics and see that it is actually a lot of f***ing people listening to these artists that “fell off” smh
