All I know is yall Tyler fans need to stay in your lane. Tyler is no where near Wayne when it comes to anything hip hop.
Y’all talking about Wayne like he’s Ken Carson or something
Yknow Lil Wayne’s pretty lucky Tyler gave him a feature on Flower Boy, he’s such a nice guy putting him on n s***
We’re all rooting for him 😇

Guys, the reason I brought up Wayne with Tyler, because I'm comparing their commercial success and their evolution of skills as hip-hop musicians.
Not comparing them musically, but if we want me to go there. I can
Wayne is clearly the better rapper of the two, and still more influential to rap today. Like most of these niggas wouldn't be here without Wayne.
His run with the first 3 Carters and his mixtapes from 06-09 solidify his legendary/influential status.
With that being said....
Wayne doesn't have the ounce of artistry that Tyler has and we can see that, because well....
look at Rebirth.... :seanshrug;
Plus Wayne's discography is pretty scattered outside of his best works
Don't get me wrong, Tyler didn't start out the best, but especially with how janky Goblin is. But him constantly improving each album including the how impactful OF was in the beginning of his career.
His influence on rap is starting to really show, but the problem is that he needs to get out of that "niche" box. That's why I felt his comments about other rappers on Nardwuar was going to be side-eyed. Like bro has the potential to make an commercial successful, but influential album that really moves the culture mainstream wise, not that he hasn't made any impact, but it's not as universal as Wayne.
Y'all might disagree, but that's my take. Now I'll stfu lmaoo

I actually agree with everything you said except the artistry part and the discography part. Wayne had the more original and creative music. Tyler is just more overtly “artsy”
On ktt discography = albums only and mixtapes aren’t as respected. Wayne discography is underrated imo

But I just told you the mixtapes are Wayne’s best work lmao also what does “overly artsy” even mean and why is that even a bad thing?
Bro yall not doing this to Wayne dammit, for Tyler nigga? For Tyler? Jesus!
Lil Wayne doesn’t have 1 album on the level of FB, Igor or CMIYGL, let alone an entire run. Not that he’s bad or anything but I don’t get the comparison.
14 quotes tells me niggas must set u straight lmao
Most people I know actually can’t name songs from C3. You’re talking about rap fans over 30.
I barely can, I’m 25, but lollipop and a milli are staples in hip hop (I know lollipop isn’t necessarily hip hop but you get my point). Same with songs from take care and gkmc. Which songs from Tyler’s last 3 albums had any impact? All I can think is earfquake.
I can’t name one song from flower boy or cmiygl that had an impact on the culture. Please correct me as I’m not the biggest Tyler fan but that’s part of my point I suppose. You don’t have to be a Drake, Wayne or Kendrick ‘fan’ to know songs from those three albums
But I just told you the mixtapes are Wayne’s best work lmao also what does “overly artsy” even mean and why is that even a bad thing?
His best albums are still better than Tyler’s. I’m never gonna agree to C2, C3 being worse than Igor bro. I love rap too much to do that
And I said overtly artsy. What I meant by that is Tyler has the “artsy” aesthetic. Wayne’s music at times was years ahead of his time.

Da Drought/Dedication series and Carter series a bunch of rappers also have Tha Block is Hot in their all time favorites list. Personally, 500 Degreez is an unbelievable rap album
Does someone being more musically inclined make them the better musician in their respective genre? Serious question

But I never said C2 was worse than IGOR lmaoo I just said they are as good as each other.
What Wayne was ahead of his time aside from maybe Lolipop?

But he went to music school and writes and composes his own stuff
Pierre Bourne > Nas too btw

Oh brother if that’s what you got out of what I said then I’m done with this discussion.
Yes lol
Idk man, it’s a solid question to ask tho and think about.
For example I was first chair in band all throughout school but the nigga next to me in 2nd chair did all the practicing, jazz/marching/state band s***. Just when it was me vs him, I won. I would say he was definitely more musically inclined due to his extracurriculars and extent of practice, but not the better musician in our chosen instrument when it mattered most
