These congressmen won’t keep the same energy with Meta because Meta’s literally funding this lmao
This. The US has been doing the same step in repeat process against Asian countries since World War II.

Lobbying should absolutely hold no place in politics. It's the main reason for corruption.
You posted a graph implying that the rise of big tech = rise in mental health issues among adolescents. i'm telling you correlation =/= causation. that graph implies that social media is the determining factor. it is not, capitalism is. you can do all you want to try and restrict these companies tomorrow (which will never happen because capitalism) and people's mental states are not going to improve because their material conditions are going to continue to get worse.
Kind of niave to ignore that social media did pop up and have some cause with the rise of mental health issues. Because capitalism has been here before social media. It's not like things have gotten worse with capitalism

It's not even lobbying it's just general us imperialism trying to keep check on the world through whatever shady strategies they want.
Seeing boomers lose their s*** over the thought of tiktok is hilarious. Mfs really be mad at seeing people have fun and enjoying things 😂 I get this site is anti social media but dawg y’all just come off as bitter losers. Being anti social media doesn’t make you quirky or anything.

theres literal scientific studies that support social media contributing to mental health issues

yes things have gotten worse with capitalism?
"why do teenagers self diagnose mental illness more nowadays?"
maybe because they have the words to actually express what they are going through nowadays, all the half baked awareness campaigns, ever worsening material conditions etc.,
like yes, going on social media so much is a problem. but guess what, it is not the end all be all. its way deeper than that
yes things have gotten worse with capitalism?
I'm pretty sure the degree of how bad capitalism in the US has gone up and down multiple times throughout the past several decades.
Besides I'm not putting the sole blame on social media. I'm just saying it does have a heavy hand along with suburbs, urbanization, and new technology keeping more people isolated as the years go on.
What’s cancer about it? I don’t be seeing nothing but food videos, challenges, music related stuff, skits and pranks for the most part.
Like if you think tiktok is cancer, just ignore the app and content you see posted either on here or other platforms lol

Lobbying in general is just glorified bribery. It's the sole proponent of what influences representatives and why 99% of them have no backbone. Meta is obviously writing a large check for these politicians against TikTok. (Not saying that TikTok doesn't need to be banned), but in theory they're just skipping over the fact that all social media needs to have regulations put in place. It's a thinly veiled attempt to look like this is for the "greater good of society" but it's really just domestic big tech vs. foreign big tech.

And then during black history month there was hella great content posted putting people on to things or just sharing general knowledge. Y’all be so focused on the small stupid stuff that might be on there and don’t realize there’s more good on there than bad.
