The smoke this site has for waiters needs to be directed at barbers. They keep raising their prices for providing the same service and still ask for tips
20% has always been baseline tip if you’re not a d***head
ya I always do 20%+
my point is that its now the minimum out of 3-4 options to trick people into feeling like theyre cheap for picking 20%
its now 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%
When I tip I just give a number. I don't do the calculating percentages and s***. If I'm in and out fast I might give 0, $2, $3. If the service was actually decent, I'll do $5, and above that is pretty good. Highest I've tipped is $20 for excellent service.
And if gratuity is added in I don't usually throw in extra. Cus I hate that s*** to begin with.
It’s $2 for every $10 you spend man it’s not calculus
Lmao this happened to me and my friend it didn’t end good
Me and him were out with some other friends it was his night to pay the bill and he had to pay for everyone so I started ordering drinks and s*** for girls at other tables telling everyone order more cause he made me pay last time he pays we leave
So I go out and this nigga is pissed behind me mad about what I did then here comes the f***ing waiter he’s like “was everything okay” we was like yeah he said then why did you not leave much for a tip then my friend tries to explain how he had to pay so much for the meal that he couldn’t this led to an argument between the waiter and my friend I ain’t gon lie I hit the waiter in his s*** with a big ass rock. This nigga go down and start twitching I can’t tell the rest of the story lmao.
But me and my friend made up and s*** cause somebody could have gotten hurt we had to squash it
Wow
You can't afford it cause you couldn't afford the tip
How do you not understand that
If I have $20, I cannot afford an $18 sandwich, but i can afford (out of necessity) to buy sandwich groceries equaling $18
American maths
People tip the government (depending on state) 8 - 15% on everything they buy that govnt spends on war. Why not refuse to pay that?
Why have taxes taken out of your check at all? Just don't have them taken out and don't pay them.
Do I have to tip my taxman too?
Do I have to tip my taxman too?
How do so few understand the a***ogy
If the gratuity was automatically added to the bill, you'd have to just deal with it. That's the point. I'm saying since yall hate it so much and think the system should change when it comes to paying human beings wages, why not fight the whole system of taxes? This, of course, is tongue-in-cheek, but I shouldn't get people to pick up on that who can barely pick up their check.

I’m perfectly fine with a service fee on top of every check I get, matter of fact that’s exactly how it is in every restaurant I go to. I then tip another 10% if I got cash on me or if they got etips
Why would I wanna fight the tax system, I’m unironically a proud taxpayer

Not the same importance cause barbers directly impacting our lives w how we look, waiters provide hospitality, not skill and it's still like 1/4 of the full dining experience
The price increase is getting ridiculous being honest, but I get tipping barbers
Gotta love how folks saying damn you probably couldn't afford it which is just bullying the poor. And guess the irony is lost too with the waiters people

Most barbers work for themselves yet still raising prices and expecting tips. Waiters getting screwed by owners while barbers screwing over customers
The same cut that used to cost $20 now costing $50+
I don’t even get my hair cut as much as I used to
Someone tell me how tf inflation has hit both restaurant prices and tip percentages
Used to be 15%, then 18%, now it’s 20%??? Outrageous
Tbh I could walk to the damn kitchen myself and ask for my s*** and walk back to my seat.
She didn’t even bring my food lol. Literally just took my order and that was it.
I should call the restaurant honestly

That's what working skilled occupation does, an opportunity to make more money. I'm just basing it off on how waitressing job is more accessible than becoming a barber
If you're eating for yourself, it should be easy to know how much you're gonna tip. If you're going out with a friend, especially a girl, it's easy to calculate that tip too. She not gonna be f***in wit you if you don't tip. Some girls be going out their way to figure out how much you tip and judge you based on that. And if you're there for a celebration or a long time, you might as well just accept that a tip will be expected.
Someone is serving you as opposed to you serving yourself. Why would that not be tip worthy? A $40 meal will have an 8% gratuity I guess as the base. So what, that's $3.20 tip, $6 at 15%. I would say if a waiter has to come to you for tipping below that, I think that's something you've gotta take in and just realize you're not really doing right by the establishment.
But like I said I don't think you have to tip, but eventually you'll get to an age where it's much more peaceful to accept that if you go to a sit down restaurant there's basically an additional fee to eat there (the tip)--the same way it's extra fees to order DoorDash. And also you'll get to an age where you get a sense of pride from putting money in other people's pocket, especially for good work. I tell my friends my friends sometimes I don't feel like going to a place cus I don't feel like tipping an extra $5. That's what we have options here in America for though.
"Someone is serving you as opposed to you serving yourself. Why would that not be tip worthy?"
tbh I prefer serving myself
probably why I go to the Chinese buffet way more than a regular restaurant
It’s $2 for every $10 you spend man it’s not calculus
I feel like beers and coffees are different. I tip a dollar per beer or coffee (unless it's some fancy one I rarely get)
That's a pretty standard way to tip imo

What up, Karen!

Yeah I do the same

I guess this is assuming you're American
With that same bill you paid you could’ve copped enough top ramen for 40 meals
You need to lock in on the grind and save that eating out s*** for special occasions or when you more comfortable financially
Always tip at least 20%. Don’t come with that “they need a real salary” s*** that’s not how it works. None of them want a real salary, they want tips. They make more off tips. If their salary goes up then your meal becomes more expensive and they get less money. Use your heads folks
ramen for 40 meals
TLDR; I tipped low bc s*** was rough for my pockets this week and waitresses pressed me for more money.
respectfully if u dont have the cash to eat out just order take out like idgi
