I don't know why people are laughing like labels paying for streams isn't common knowledge now.
Its safe to say all majors dabble in it at the very least but there was many factors that contributed to its success
Like being the theme for one of the most highly acclaimed super hero movies oat
you think there's a separate category for steams that are fake and ones that arent?
It's literally open knowledge in the industry that labels will push a song by buying fake streams. Not every song, or all songs obviosuly. Billboard doesn't know the difference..
Yes. Just like there is for sales.
You dont think if you could buy fake streams that counted fanbases wouldnt be doing that?
Also Spotify for example has filtered vs unfiltered streams. Filtered removes fake streams, repeat streams etc.
If it was the boost was probably negligible to the power of millions of kids playing it on every streaming device they have, and the song being featured in playlists for grocery and retail chains for like...2-3 summers.

this is a weird thing to argue over. if you don't want to believe it then okay.
Every ticket bought of the Spider-Verse movie counted as a stream
If this is the case then this actually make sense.

Lol I’m jk that would be wild tho
Yes anything coming out of the xo camp is usually botted its been obvious for years.
i heard a lot of people talk about their love for that song but i didnt hear it much either. i think it was one of those songs people played by themselves

if you have proof why not tell us

This song had major crossover appeal and it was clean. Even the new spiderman soundtrack the songs are doing relatviely well.
Kinda hate the "go outside" slight, but deadass just go outside lmao Sunflower is still getting play just about...everywhere. Especially around this time of year. It's a regular on boardwalks, at cookouts, at county/state fairs, outdoor breweries...basically any and everywhere you'll find white folk.
The song is simply a banger that's pretty hard to dislike and because of that it's up there as one of those undeniable hits that will likely stand the test of time

I think the movie was huge as well.
Similar to Barbie movie and Black Panther movie when the movie is successful it usually helps propel the soundtrack.
Even suicide squad with sucker for pain.
if you have proof why not tell us
people in the industry have openly talked about it...
you want me to write 5 page expose on industry and get clowned for being some nobody on the internet?
you want me to sit here and say "yeah I talked to Lucian Grange in a 50 minute interview and he confirmed my suspicians"
why do you need ME for when there's a lot more credible people talking about it openly.
At its peak I heard it in stores pretty often
song was literally inescapable, it's literally 14x platinum or some s***
First ever double diamond track bro, s***s at 20x platinum. Probably even at 21 now
My sister had it on a 24 hour loop because my nephew was and still is obsessed with that song
They really hit out of the park with the kid demographic
First ever double diamond track bro, s***s at 20x platinum. Probably even at 21 now
I wonder what the numbers look like on the back end
Like can he eat off that one song the rest of his life
This is like one of the few songs where I have no questions on how it hit so big. I still here it all the time in commercials and retail stores lol
