Its the beats along with his content. Like bro could easily give us bangers and he decides to do a bunch of slow ass b sides.
Bro he isn’t just a rapper so why you expect that. He a whole artist that’s multi-dimensional in regards to his music style. If you came to just hear rap, then you ain’t a real drake fan, you a fake fan.
I think there are some valid criticisms on Drake’s music but overall I’m very satisfied with his current output and if you put the CLB era up with any other era of his it’s more than competitive
I don't agree with this. Scorpion and Views were f***ing eras and CLB didn't match up to the hits and deep cuts that were on those records for me.

Na who said anything about rapping? I would easily enjoy an album full of hotline blings, howgh, passion fruit. Not everything needs to be 5am in Toronto, war, and knife talk. My point being that even his singing s*** is missing hard. He just not hungry anymore.
he's always used autotune.
Yeah but very softly on his best albums tc nwts iyrtitl.. But dunno man.. Mixes on clb and scorpion are weird on some tracks.. It feels rushed. Even when I enjoyed CLB very much I can say that engineering was better on older drakes albums.

He been running the game for 10 years, why y’all expect him to be starving.
This album was drake with pure confidence and comfortability in who he is and where he is at in the game.
And since it’s an OVO record, this album was truly exactly what he wanted. I respect that, and his contribution to music.

He's only on album 6 why you acting like he should be burnt out
Jay Z 6th album was the Blueprint.
Nas 6th album was Godson.
Kanyes 6th album was yeezus.
These mfs were still creating literal classics 6 albums in. Its not to much to ask of him to want to make good music. And don't act like jay z, nas, and kanye were not already considered legends when they made these albums. They couldve acted like they done enough in the game as well but they didn't. They kept pushing.

Bro this album is legendary though

S*** is so wavy
His boring delivery for me.
This is a honest thread, no hate. To all stans pls do not get nasty in here
So you’re telling me that if you had millions and were set for life you would still make good music for your fans? Bro I’m retired I don’t need to make “inspired” music anymore. The point is to make it in the game, get yourself situated for the future and retire from your hustle. Y’all need to accept the fact you’re not gonna get the old drake back.

I agree with what you saying but can we all stop believing Drake's lies and calling this his 6th album when it's really his 10th. SFG, IYRTITL, ML, and DLDT basically albums... at least in this context.
NWTS and take care are legendary. This album is just a bunch of b sides.
I don’t know what to say besides we got different taste. Drake b side > everyone else’s album for me
That s*** weirded me out, but we dont know for sure whats the meaning tbh. People say its Donda's heartbeat fading which is kinda sad if true and a really interesting opening. We dont always have to compare these two
I felt like they were trying to put a hex on me lol. It gets an automatic skip from me every time
I love the album but Drake doesn’t take himself as serious as his peers. That’s the only thing I want from him but you can’t change a person. Maybe in another 5 years or so. Vital might be the closest we’ll get to it.
I have no real disappointments about this album tbh, but I’ll list some things I’d like to see from him in the future.
I’d like to see him tackle a concept album. Especially since he’s accomplished just about all there is to accomplish. Since he’s been at the top for a while, his stories aren’t as interesting as they use to be. He’s still one of the most relatable artist to me though.
I’d also like to see him go completely left field for one project. It can be a short, concise project. I want him to drop his IGOR, TBAP, or something. Something that’s completely unexpected.
He still has the best voice in music IMO, and he can tackle any sound he chooses to
Kanye being the focus of 50% of his bar heavy music nowadays
This is it. I love his sound and his flow right now, give or take some tracks where I DO agree he's bored (Knife Talk being the only one in CLB I have this criticism for) but I'm so tired of Kanye slander.
Albums in general just aren’t what they used to be. It’s a new system now and although CLB didn’t live up to my expectations personally for me, it doesn’t matter because I think that’s becoming a near impossible task at this point due to Drakes mass appeal. It was still a great piece of work.
Not to say he hasn’t dropped albums which are near classics or are classics in the past but to drop a cohesive body of work now with all the different forms of drake music that exists… and please everyone making a classic by consensus…. Not happening
It might be that legacy is often determined by someone’s classics in their time but that’s just not drake. He’s held the throne down for way too long, still with music but I don’t rely on his albums to show me that, especially when his only really classic we all can agree on is takecare.
Drakes singles and loosies between albums are arguably his best work and are a reminder of what this man is capable of. Which is why it might hurt some of yall even more when you hear him sound so inspired on something like Vital. But when you hear that, cherish that fr, cause that’s still drake and moments like that and on Days in the east haven’t come about but have meant everything for me in my personal experience. Getting a whole album full of them just ain’t gonna happen cause drake can’t do that

I’m sure Drake still cares about his own legacy in hip-hop. This album does not help him in that regard

Just wanted to say the first part of your post is accurate af. Liked the album for what it is, and I can appreciate he tried to be more cohesive on the project.
But as you said, it's gonna be hard for Drake to create an album or project that will live up to expectations across the board or globally. Imo it's cause he's so diverse in his sound. Some people go for him for his r&b, some go for his pop sound, some go for his introspective rap or his club rap bangers, etc. If Drake drops an album with 10 hard af rap tracks, fans of his pop and r7b sounds will be dissapointed. He truly is a victim of his own versatility imo.
As for myself, I really enjoy the album. If I had something to say, I'd like him to go into an album not addressing any beefs. I feel like it distracts him from the album. Also maybe being a bit more experimental, although I understand and appreciate Drake has his formula and does it really well. That's pretty much it tbh, flows are always on point, beat selection is always on point.
damn, yall really got no sense of humor, huh? guess that's why you've gotta look to your papi for memes
