Kanye has always done stadium tours even TLOP some places had 100k people. Post Malone and Travis could do this too

    Cap.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Pablo_Tour#Tour_dates

Kanye did 3 arena shows in Inglewood and still didn't reach 100,000 people.

Only artists today that can successful do arena tours are Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and maybe Eminem.

Didn’t Drake say he doesn’t wanna do stadiums cause it ruins the fan experience ? And if you think the biggest rapper of the past decade can’t do stadiums you’re delusional

He can't. Literally has to get everyone and their mom to buy.

Nobody denied it being part of the business. I was just stating facts. And again who do you think makes up most of radio listeners in America historically and today? So again even if it’s indirect, if you want to be big you almost always have to sell out to white people. Some artists don’t mind this, as they just want the $, but a lot of artists lose themselves by getting stripped of their identity and what they are trying to convey in their music. But again like you said business is business, even if it’s at the expense of black artists and culture.

I honestly don’t think I’m the correct person to have this talk with because I understand everything you’re saying but I just can’t see why it’s bad to appeal to the masses.

They become famous, more people listen to them, artists gets more £££. Seems like a win win to me

    Imagine thinking this twisted.

They’re artists and a fan is a fan.

    Who cares about the race

Yeah but there’s such a thing as black famous and white famous and people who have both.

There are platinum selling r&b artist white folks have never heard

Not every artist shares that success story, and its easy to say when your race isn’t constantly being ripped offf and being stripped of its identity.

Mexican artists don’t have to sellout usually, because there are enough Hispanic countries to bump their s***.
Same can be said about most other races.
But not black because our African brother and sisters don’t even recognize American black s*** like that unless it’s Akon.

So my point is simply, everyone else can make s*** for their intended fanbase and be major league successful, but if you’re black you are ALMOST always going to have to sell your identity out to achieve that same success.

Easy not to see the issue with this if you’re not black.

Ahh maybe Watch The Throne did those numbers? I think Eminem could easily considering he performs to 80k in Italy, Australia etc.

..could they even do 25+ stadium dates for a 1 leg North American Tour?
    U.S. FirstEnergy Stadium FedExField
    Lincoln Financial Field
    MetLife Stadium
    Gillette Stadium
    U.S. Bank Stadium
    Soldier Ford Field
    Ohio Stadium New Era Field
    Williams–Brice Stadium
    Vanderbilt Stadium
    Mercedes-Benz Stadium
    Camping World Stadium
    Hard Rock Stadium
    AT&T Stadium
    Mercedes-Benz Superdome
    NRG Stadium
    State Farm Stadium
    Rose Bowl
    SDCCU Stadium
    Levi's Stadium
    BC Place
    U.S. CenturyLink Field

..these are main stadium venues for touring in the US.. average tickets sold is 50-60,000+

The biggest star Drake could probably fill 5-7 of these stadiums before the pandemic, but he’s not goin on a 25+ date run in a leg like true heavy weights like Taylor and Beyonce.

Yep, that’s why most black artist who crossed over to the upper tier of the mainstream have a very different appeal and carry themselves than ones who don’t

That’s why people like Bobby brown, and Janet Jackson are revered so much cause they got that huge success without ever compromising the music or who they were.

Compare that to Lionel Richie or Jason derulo and how they’re perceived

I don’t think it matters as much now but back in the day it was definitely a thing tbh

I’m glad you’re passionate about this my man.

I personally have literally 0 opinion on this cause I don’t think it’s that deep but thank you for actually taking the time to write it out.

I like to think of people are people first and then race but I guess that’s not uniform over the world.

Drake has literally said that the reason he doesnt do stadium tours is because you lose quality. The sound is usually terrible and you don’t feel connected to the show. He sold out the garden like 6 nights in a row here in NYC lol. He can do it

The problem with your line of thinking is that you have the best intentions but you ignore history. Why should we all pretend to be equal now, when for hundreds of years Black people were treated as lesser than almost across the whole globe even by their own?
Black people were stripped of their identity for a very long time and you expect us to just be okay with it because it’s not a thing anymore.

You can’t erase history just to make yourself feel better.

Person doesn’t even strike me as a blatant racist. More of a bubble personality, that thinks because it’s not in my small bubble it must not be a problem. It’s more willful ignorance than anything.
