Apple Music being free is not the same as music being free.

Posts like this will always get many likes because people like free stuff. Most people listen to music as background noise.

Just like with movies , you have a divide between people that actually appreciate the art form and people who just consume it out of boredom or whatever. With movies, you have people that go out of their way to find some B movie from 1973 for their blu ray collection and will pay happily more than 50$ for it. Same way in music there is a growing population of people who is digging through vinyls and will pay more than 100$ for one album. In a way, the enthusiasts are growing in number too.

i agree and disagree here. i think that back then having a massive physical collection did mean you are invested into something, but it is different from now because we're talking about it being a primary mode of consumption back then as opposed to now when physicals are nothing more than glorified things to sell to enthusiasts. i dont think that your passion can be as monetarily measured as it was when physicals were in their prime

most people use AM on their Apple devices so theyre already ahead and dont need free tiers because of that
