Who we blame for music losing value?
Technology? Labels? Money Driven Artists?
music never had any value under market system other than value of being a commodity that can be sold. the renting system for music is perfectly in line with renting being introduced into most products of consumption. i strongly recommend reading Blues People by Amiri Baraka for a material and racial history applied to the rise of music industry in the US

This is a fact! Spotify was even a bit early on the share economy s***.
I just want to talk to data a***yst or business development person who presented the case to the labels about the conversion rates of a stream.
Music is free if you’re not tech illiterate
It costs time that way. Which is still valuable
People born in the 90s or later never had to pay for music lol
You’re a decade early
Art should not be free ever.
it should be, but it shouldn't be under capitalism
This one of those bait twitter posts that pop up every now and then for engagement

Why shouldn't Apple Music have a free version like Spotify or Youtube
None of this should be free.
None of this should be free.
What's wrong with the current streaming situation? Artists are getting paid from the free Spotify users as well.
Also, 90% of the music being released nowadays = microwave music. A lot of songs and albums do not deserve to be bought
i agree and disagree here. i think that back then having a massive physical collection did mean you are invested into something, but it is different from now because we're talking about it being a primary mode of consumption back then as opposed to now when physicals are nothing more than glorified things to sell to enthusiasts. i dont think that your passion can be as monetarily measured as it was when physicals were in their prime
Agreed. Some people (like me) don't have that much free money available to spend it on vinyls even though I love music.
All I wanted to emphasize is the dichotomy between a segment of people who wants all the music in the world for 5$ and another segment which would spend 100$ for one album

Labels and artists have never made less money. To where labels are regretting this.
Also as you mentioned music quality is a lot of garbage right now because the market has adapted to the massive devaluation of music.

I spent almost half of my life going to music stores and buying CDs. I'm 30.

Obviously people did buy music
But there was never a time where free music was not easily accessible if you were at all tech literate.
Random Twitter post to KTT thread pipeline is forever strong
Twitter is the powerhouse of the ktt cell
I have a friend who thinks like this but it goes beyond Apple Music. He refuses to pay for any streaming service nor does he buy any physical music.
I remember him telling me his justification one time, it had something to do with like music being so pronounced in public like malls, stores, restaurants, bars, etc. that he doesn't understand why he should have to pay for it when it's so readily available for free. Dumb logic, bizzare stuff!
I thought he was of the "ownership" route for a sec
