look im gnna be honest s***s just corny.

its for old folks. Yes, Gucci is old now.

What I really don't like is Verzuz as a brand. I think the concept of having two artists compare their hits in a little battle is pretty cool. I think trying to trademark that and then trying to profit off of that is really cringe. I think buying into that company's brand and acting like Verzuz is the s*** is equally as corny. Seeing ppl suck off companies that try n take over s*** that ppl were already doing will always disgust me.

But no, by all means tell me why its necessary to respect this fkn brand

pls explain to me why I should bow down to this company. Pls tell me why I should treat these ppl trynna turn a profit on fan activity with the utmost respect?

Well first off I said it was great until they decided to heavily commodify it and attempt to charge people for it so I have no idea what the f*** you are tryna go on about here.

You taking this stance of "They're trying to sell nostalgia to us!" and...no s***? Do you know how many production companies and concert series go on across the country and world that feature artists of a particular era coming together to tour? What the f*** do you think they are doing? It's almost like people still like those older artists and their music, and they are happy to pay money to go to a show, or just watch them for free in the comfort of their homes.

End of the day all Verzuz is, is just a glorified soundclash. Damn near the same as they been doing for years out in the Caribbean and Africa. Or to put it even more simply...a f***in concert. God f***in forbid people show joy at watching artists the love performing songs that they love.

You can talk about "Oh well fans were doing this already!" okay...but were any of these fans getting the actual f***ing artists in their lil livestreams who would perform the songs or some variations of the songs themselves and also interact with one another and discuss music history?

I really don't even fully understand the point you are attempting to argue, and frankly it sounds like some whiny c***hipster bullshit talking point you probably learned in your goofy ass hip-hop history course in college. Maybe sit this one out bud. You already going out sad as corny ass culture vulture and hater.

wait so u agree with me that commodifying it was stupid and bad right? u agree with me that swizz beatz trying to turn a profit on it was dumb? so what are u even arguing?

I'm saying I think the concept of artists going back n forth live is cool as s***. We don't need a company for that. We especially do not need swizz beatz corny ass for that.

it sounds like we agree, why tf are u insulting me so much?

then u call the thread bitter? its u bruh. ur bitter

also wtf is wrong w taking a class on hiphop. its the coolest way to knock out my gen-ed requirement. im not taking the class cus i need to learn more hip hop im taking it cus i enjoy music and see this as an easy opportunity to get one step closer to graduating.

for the record the only rsn im going so hard is cus i called verzuz corny and got a bunch of personal insults hurled at me like wtf. that s*** is corny bruh. even if u disagree tf is insulting me gnna do?

You realize putting on a show with full DJ setups, booking a stage/theater for the show, hiring stage crew and a production crew, and...paying the f***ing artists who will be performing costs money right?

We might not like that Verzuz is something that has to be paid for now, but it's not like they're just getting two people on their phones or computers with their s***ty wifi playing poor quality audio through a speaker for 45-60mins. It has literally become a full production event, equivalent to a concert. Which is why I say it's no different than a soundclash. S*** the fact that the Lox vs Dipset Verzuz was still free for people at home despite the whole setup they had at Madison Square Garden was nuts.

As for Swizz Beats...ya might not like it, but dude has decades worth of music industry pull. A wide variety of connections who can help put together the Verzuz battles we have now together in the first place. The man literally went back to school at Harvard to get his masters in business specializing in ownership/president management. You don't think he's gonna put all that s*** to use in order to do what he literally started his career doing...which is hosting parties and music events?

    Come on man. THINK.

we do not need to have one guy trademark the concept of artists having a hits battle come on.

verzuz is unnecessary, its for old ppl, and its run by swizz beatz who is corny as s*** and i dont like
