racism isnt caused by capitalism, capitalism causes class imbalance which in turn exacerbates racism

racism was simply part of the foundation of our nation (U.S.) when it was created so everyone who doesnt know better thinks its caused by "capitalism"

Capitalists aren’t interested in maximizing every persons potential, they’re interested in maximizing profit. If they cared about maximizing potential, there wouldn’t be huge friction to things like universal healthcare, public housing, working conditions, pay. Cmon lol. Do you really think capitalists want everyone to have their potential maximized?

I think the systemic racist aspect of capitalism is real, not an idiot.

BUT under capitalism the capitalist should seek to turn the highest profit and work in their self interest. By promoting discrimination, they prevent maximum efficiency as the massive potential of the victim groups gets untapped

Disclaimer: there are ethical reasons to oppose systemic racism that are way more important of course, thags not my main reason for being against it at all

If anything classic liberals would be against racism to let everybody have what they deserve, then pretend racism doesnt exist anymore and if you don’t succeed in life it’s because you don’t work enough, then they’d favor the most economically powerful group over others, then prevent the government from trying to stop individual racist behaviors, and it creates a negative feedback loop.

It’s what’s been going on in america but add to that government intervention that perpetuates racism (war on d****, etc) and it makes it difficult to imagine a capitalist world without racism

Yeah I don't really think capitalism can exist without the oppression of some group whether it's based on race, religion, sexuality, etc. In order for those with capital to succeed and continue to get rich in a capitalist system/society an underprivileged group is very likely going to have to get taken advantage of.

True, but this line of thinking only works if the capitalists in power operated from a purely ideological perspective...which they don't. Systemic racism is profitable and maintains the status quo and their position in economic hierarchy. Giving minorities more purchasing power and more social and economic opportunity means allowing another variable to potentially threaten their position. These so called "capitalists" lobby governments and support interventions that actually perpetuates racism and maintains the very status quo economic/social/political landscape they benefit from.

Stop confining your definition of racism to a domestic context. This whole idea of capitalists should be against racism cuz of purchasing power is not only politically illiterate hogwash, it says nothing of the racism perpetuated abroad in the name of capitalist interests. It isnt racist to set up a factory in a developing country. It's racist if it is done solely for their race, but the motive behind economic policy decisions isnt the skin colour of the nation in question. It was racist rhe way africa got divided and colonised, but the situation has changed massively.

You often cite the example of the child miners in Congo. This is tragic, we need stronger international regulation against this, this is a failure of Congolese law to protect children from child labour, it isnt actually necessary at all.

i agree that's why i added the last part. Capitalists in power pick and choose from ideologies that suit them for a short term win. And this can go back to the very beginning of the system when the british would let irish people or indian people die of starvation because government intervention was anti capitalistic in nature - but then would intervene strongly in other situations. And in that case aspects of systemic racism are useful for profit (prisons for profit, unequal access to loans, etc) but not others.
