I would say overweight people have a harder time losing weight. Resisting the urge to eat when you feel hunger is a lot harder than forcing yourself to eat to build muscle
Gaining weight in a healthy manner (ie, counting your macros, forcing yourself to eat veggies or protein if you didn't get your desired calories for the day, etc) is just as hard as losing weight.
Now, gaining weight by eating a bunch of junk food is obviously easier than losing weight.
Losing weight (and maintaining the loss) is much harder imo.
I was a super skinny kid growing up. My senior year weight was 120. Depression and medication f***ed me up after HS included with my horrendous diet. At worst i think I shot up to 245. Current I’m about 220. The lowest I’ve gotten since hitting the 200s was 197 but then I gained it all back. Gaining weight post HS granted you don’t have an eating disorder is almost inevitable, our metabolism changes drastically. Losing weight isn’t “hard” but it is hard to maintain the loss as the years go by. You have to stay active
as someone who is trying to gain weight, and has been successful so far, i personally find gaining weight to be hard, its a lot of psychological facts, but i imagine losing weight is equally the same as hard

Losing weight if you're fat. If you're skinny and eat a s*** ton it's because you have fast metabolism and your metabolism will eventually slow.
I have had a pretty easy time losing my last 50 pounds, it’s taken discipline, but that has naturally came with age
I have a homie that is about 120 dripping wet and have watched this man eat all types of s*** over the years and he dosent gain much at all. Granted the man dosent finish his plate a lot of the time, there is more I believe he could be doing. But he still has a really time, I think the people writing off gaining weight are sleep
