yes. he explained it well scroll up
That’s still a very poor way of judging art. TPAB sold poorly compared to other Kendrick albums, so it’s not a classic?
What about Lost Tapes by Nas?
Lost tapes was a compilation, compilations don't really sell well unless a greatest hits
TPAB was his second best first week of his 3 albums and was certified platinum in less than a year. (It hasn't been updated since - RIAA certification isn't automatic, label has to pay to certify) so I'd say it sold fine.
Sales aren't everything of course but they definitley are part of it

TPAB was cert platinum in under a year.

gkmc a classic and it outsold section 80 and Damn came after. so idk what your point is.
You can do the first thing and not actually be quality. Not a good criteria.
Some classics are like this tho lol
It’s ok the people like them I think that’s good enough
Like Straight Outta Compton is a classic for being influential but if it was released 5 years later it wouldn’t be a classic ofc
Context always matters

If that’s the case like I said earlier a classic in the masterpiece shouldn’t be synonymous terms. It seems like a classic is a classic based on mass impact more than anything else
I have to like it but also obscure or unpopular enough for me to debate it’s status on forums
Almost every Drake album is a classic
If Thank Me Later, Scorpion, and CLB are "classics", then the term has lost its meaning.
-RXK in the title
-multiple mentions of Hennessy, Unc’ & Auntie, beans, and slapping the f*** out of people
-vocals very loud that sound like they are on top of the track
-a crudely pieced together album cover
-themes including selling d****, cooking d****, doing d****, killing, shooting, stabbing, stomping out in boots, speeding, conspiracy, running from police, stabbing police, Slitherman, opps, Audis, jewlery, and love

I said almost every album brother
SFG, TC, NWTS, IYRTITL, Views and More Life are all classics
WATTBA and DLDT could be classics too lowkey

Does it bump in the whip the next year?
And the year after that?

Fr, maybe there's a discussion to be had on if 'instant classics' should be a thing or not too.
