okay I'm going to put my short a***ysis for each song and I'm done after it
from all these songs, these come from different artists demos
bro had no direction at all with this album, you can see it in the art and the merch and even in the f***ing covers, at some point we got art with different stone idols and spaceships and s***
Circus Maximus 'movie' is a lazy rip-off of Runaway, just random ass music videos (of course I'm not saying they're not well done and have nice shots, but it lacks any kind of substance)
he's selling regular AF1s painted with the utopia logo on them
he's selling a bunch of random ass photo zines and in most of them he doesn't have anything to do with them
he's selling 5 different album covers and none of them has any concept direction to what Utopia should be
the physical of this album doesn't even contain Meltdown, this is a big hint that he didn't spent a lot of time doing the music
the feats are so f***ing repetitive I'm tired of listening to Drake, Weeknd and 21 Savage (THESE 2 HAVE DOUBLE FEATURE ON THIS ALBUM), he even brought James Blake and Swae Lee again, I'm pretty sure if he could, he would have brought Frank Ocean to do his part on My Eyes
BRO USED A 10 YEARS OLD SONG FOR THIS ALBUM
This is my a***ysis
Hyaena - fire neo boom bap esque instrumental. One of Travis best rapping perfomances (vocally)
Thank God - futuristic banger.
Modern Jam - futuristic modern jam.
Teezos feature goes crazyyy
My Eyes - my fav of the album. Reminds me of Frank Ocean‘s Lens vocally (Travis had a unreleased feature on it btw). Sampha second part had me floating travis was going IN
God's Country - I hate that f***ing instrumental. LaLAlalAaa SHUT THE F*** UP B****. No switch ups or structure too so one dimensional that s*** makes my ears bleed
Sirens - coo song. I like the instrumental a lot - sounds like a modern hymn for pirates.
Meltdown - first part is coo. you‘re right it‘s literally Sicko Mode II but way worse
FEIN - it‘s a banger. Playboi Carti’s feature goes crazy on here. FEIN FEIN FEIN FEIN
DELRESTO - Illuminati party ballad. Imagine listening to that while sniffing cocaine out of a models p**** while Beyonce performs during an Eyes Wide Shout type of ritual I love hearing Beyonce‘s moaning too
I KNOW? - definitely formulaic but it‘s a pretty damn good & catchy trap song
TOPIA TWINS - mid
CIRCUS MAXIMUS - cinematic masterpiece
PARASAIL - Travis on his artsy indie rock type s*** I FALL I GET UP I STAND TALL. TALK YOUR S*** DAVE CHAPPELLE
The legend Yung Lean blessed us with some of his singing too
SKITZO - mid
LOST FOREVER - a f***ing futuristic artsy real hip hop ass song with a great samples and amazing westside gunn feature
LOOOVE - this the type of s*** bruce wayne dances to in the nightclub
K-Pop - "objectively" mid. I like it tho because I‘m a sucker for Dancehall,Reggeaton rhythms and Abel, Bad Bunny just have sweet voices for this kind of stuff
TELEKINESIS - another cinematic masterpiece. Future and SZA delivered one of their best features imo
TIL FURTHER NOTICE - a perfect outro
I don‘t care about the promo or how old these songs are or where he sampled/took some s*** to create his art. Great artists "steal". It‘s all about the music for me. I think the Album cover is nice tho.

I appreciate your input. I adore reading Track for Track reviews 👍🏻

I get your point man, maybe if I had homies with which I could enjoy this music again I would have loved it more
my biggest issue with music nowadays is pattern recognition, if I notice repetition in the structure and feats, I can't stand it, especially after 5-6 years of waiting and so much hype from his side
I don't like Utopia at all
That's how I was with astroworld maybe you'll end up liking his next one
I think he should release a tape full of bangers next year in a similar fashion to BIRDS
I think he should release a tape full of bangers next year in a similar fashion to BIRDS
Birds was way too overhated
That's how I was with astroworld maybe you'll end up liking his next one
nah I liked astroworld instantly, I don’t like the concept of ‘it will grow in time’ because I ain’t listening to something over and over just to force myself to like it, with that rule any music would end up being good
AI Kanye did Modern Jam better
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7N9quwGYE8 what couldve been

That's not what I said dude lol
I did not ever like astroworld, but I like utopia
If you don't like utopia, maybe you'll like the next one
HYAENA, MY EYES, PARASAIL, LOST FOREVER, MODERN JAM, DELRESTO, CIRCUS MAXIMUS
and this man says same trap sounds over and over
Telekensisza erasure..
No replay value at all
I listened twice and ain't been back. I've tried. Pulled up the Spotify page and everything but can't hit play

I know you didn't said that, I'm just saying, a bunch of people said when it dropped ''it will grow on your bro''

ngl outside of meltdown and my eyes i haven’t returned to it
after the bells and whistles of the production kinda wear off it’s like eh
i feel like his performances were way better on ASTROWORLD
I know you didn't said that, I'm just saying, a bunch of people said when it dropped ''it will grow on your bro''
People say that about anything 90% of the time it's not true for me
I tried way too hard with eternal atake no idea why I thought I could force myself to like it
If you don't like utopia move on lol this sites mad split on it anyways
Next album should be a PopRap album, sorta like Birds and Astroworld
Loaded with hits, and needs to drop within 15 months
But what’s next for him I think is a very lengthy global tour that will extend in 2025, and I think he drops his next album that year as well. Don’t see another long hiatus coming from him
he's falling off if he doesn't drop a album next year
Biting? Travis worked on Yeezus, too. It was probably one of the first big projects he participated in ofc it had influence on him s*** probably changed his life. And it was a matter of time til he decided to embrace his roots more. And I think the way he approached the sound was pretty cool. Also, there are a lot of non-Yeezus esque tracks on the album, too. The hopping on waves argument is stupid too do u expect artists to stay in their lane all the time and not try out new sounds/waves - Drake does that all the time.
Travis influencing Yeezus is a myth.
He re-did the drums on 1 song (Guilt trip)
At least OP gave real discussion points rather than “came and went” but still let his album marinate let him go on tour then he can figure it out from there
Idk I kinda got what I wanted out of utopia but not really
Was hoping he’d tap back into his old sound and go left field, especially after Astroworld which was super commercial while still being artsy, was kind of like his Graduation. I hoped he’d go muddy and dark after dropping his most polished album, and I thought for sure he wouldn’t after the astrofest tragedy to preserve his endorsements. But he still said f*** it and did it, and that’s exactly what I wanted
But I will say I don’t enjoy the album as much as all his other s*** except birds. Just isn’t as focused as he usually is on here and has a lot going on. I’m used to him dropping s*** that resets the industry
The album starts off really strong but falls apart towards the end (after track 11)
he's falling off if he doesn't drop a album next year
Lmao no he is not
He just dropped his longest running #1 album, went platinum in a month, and briefly became the most streamed rapper ever on Spotify a few weeks ago before Drake reclaimed the spot.
He has a tour coming up that will be his most successful yet, we’ve seen with big artists touring for the first time post-Covid that it only does more benefit than harm to an artist (Drake, Weeknd, Taylor, etc. all have experienced massive streaming boosts during their tours).
He will be fine if he doesn’t drop an album next year
i think he’s had creative control his entire career tbh
idk what kind of deal he had, but for travis to be as hot as he was and to basically continually tour from 2014-2019 as well as sell that much merch and get that many streams (and sales for rodeo), he proved early on that if you give him the ball, he’ll go make the shot
