I don't like Utopia at all
it’s not that i don’t like it but it’s like a summer blockbuster that isn’t really moving the needle like we thought
Man f*** a hit who cares
I’ve been listening to Travis since 2013 and it’s still f***ing bewildering that he even got this popular in the first place, couldn’t care less if this album has hits
"Fuck a hit"
Album literally has a song called "K-Pop" on it featuring two of the biggest pop acts in the world currently...one of which is featured on the album twice
Utopia is left field?
I'm convinced these people just saying whatever at this point lmao
This album was left field for him? Huh? Just felt like any ordinary Travis Scott project lmao had the same kinda expected features, producers, and everything...that's left field?
Link me a song from his previous albums that sound like Parasail or My Eyes
For mainstream rap listeners songs like Circus Maximus and Looove are unusual yes
I don't even know how this is arguable
I like all of those songs but besides Fe!n none of them will be hits.
I remember this narrative being around for months after WLR

K-Pop stands out like a sore thumb from the rest of the album, so it’s a safe assumption to make that the song was a force by the label for an attempt at a mainstream hit

Left field relative to what astroworld sounded like and was expected from him after astrofest tragedy. Niggas fully expected him to go astroworld part 2 to keep his brand endorsements

Shiet even something like Sirens or Thank God. Heard majority of this album and I was amazed at how fresh the sounds were with that Travis feel added to them

Pay attention mama
Someone is going on and on in the thread about how the album has no hits, and I am expressing how much I don’t give a f*** if the album has hits or not
Simple
"Travis is not chasing a hit on Utopia and he's doing something left field!"
The album features Drake, 21 Savage (twice), The Weeknd (twice), Beyonce, Swae Lee, Young Thug, Kid Cudi, Bad Bunny, Future, SZA, and Playboi Carti.....The album has production done by his usual producers he's been working on for his last 3-4 projects...all doing the usual beat switch s*** all his projects have been known for...
Can y'all f*** off lmao
Utopia is left field?
Think hard about what was expected from Travis after the astrofest tragedy and what we actually ended up getting and you’ll have ur answer

It’s all relative. This album is left field for Travis because it sounds nothing like any of his three studio albums. The closest comparison that it is for him is Owl Pharoah, but that was his debut project that released 10 years ago.
I think every rap fan was just expecting him to play it safe and release Birds/Astroworld Part 3

I'd say Astroworld was probably more "left field" than Utopia, and even then it's just a Travis Scott project
i really liked utopia at first but it doesn't have the hooks that his previous projects had unfortunately

I agree but it felt intentional to me

I expected a more somber and maybe reflective album...I don't know why I expected that though because Travis has yet to show he's capable of really being a self-reflective and thought provoking artist...meaning that Utopia literally falls right into the usual field for him

That's probably his most accessible album man
It's either that or Birds

You’re being dense my brother
