I still feel like the love MBDTF gets is more due to everything surrounding the era, the bs drama in the media, and the imagery, the visuals like the iconic Red suit performance. don't get me wrong it's still a Great album, but people worship it because of more than the music. it might be a trash opinion, but to me it's the probably the least interesting album content wise that Kanye released during what most would call his "peak".
Wrong.
Era was great.
Music was great.
Videos were great.
Life's were changed.
drake for sure tbh he's been coasting the past few years if he really applies himself he can drop very solid records again
I unironically feel like Ross could drop an album of that quality if he gets really inspired to do it
MBDTF is a great album but that Pitchfork 10/10 has a lot of influence over the way y'all think about it today.
One day we gonna have that conversation
the aneurisms these kendrick haters will have when he drops yet another great record is something I am very much looking forward to witness.
So saying Kendrick probably won’t drop a MBDTF tier album = hating
The delusions Kendrick stans have

So
MBDTF really has Gorgeous, So Appalled, Runaway, Blame Game, Who Will Survive In America and Devil In A New Dress.. No man we didn't get influenced by a 10/10 review i didn't even know existed at the time. S*** was just that good

Like what kinda sheep do u have to be to be influenced by a review.
whens the last time someone dropped something as chilling as the vocal layering in Lost In The World

MBDTF was so revered that past few years people have started picking it apart to the point it’s becoming underrated. Album is pretty f***ing perfect. Sounds exactly like it’s title.
Bro brings up Pitchfork in a music thread lol
Only white people care about that s***. No t even joking
To answer OP question, when I listened to Jay Electronica Act 2 leak, I felt that album could’ve been on that level bc it was really unique. Unique production and themes. It’s a shame it never materialized properly. I don’t think someone else could’ve made that album except Jay Electronica.

So
It didn't have to directly influence you. But someone somewhere told you that MBDTF was a perfect album. And it was the first 10/10 Pitchfork gave out in like 8 years at the peak of Pitchfork's culture credibility. So at the time, that review meant a lot and had a lot of influence over how the public perceived the album and that perception continues today.
I'm not saying the score is unwarranted tho
