i could keep listing things btw
and ive seen over 2/3 of what ive listed get posted on here, with 100% of those threads containing replies saying “who?”, usually made by people who want to complain about how stagnant the genre is
Yeah I been stopped listening about a year ago. Will take a new artist coming up and blowing up for me to return to being an active hip hop listener tbh
The southern rap sound is kinda over & under whelming if you catch my drift. Its hard finding some proper left field s*** thats pushing the boundaries.
Ive been listening to alot of UK Rap tho. Novelist one of my favorite MC's.

thats hot, u putting me on
there are fewer and fewer high quality rap albums coming out now than there was a few years back but i am still listening to hip-hop all the time. if you are starved of new albums there is always old classics to listen to.
Lil Yachty was the final nail in the coffin in my opinion. He made s*** amateur sounding music and being a corporate sellout cool, it's been all downhill from there.
Nah bro get familiar w his stuff
I feel you tbh during college I slowed down listening to rap. I only listen to a handful of rappers and I listen to so many diff genres now, including country (roast me idc country is fire)
check out Music to be Murdered by if you wanna hear an actual artist with actual skill and passion for emceeing
Tbh yeah but this all I listen to so kinda weird lmao, just listening to a lot of old s*** lately
Promise you I ain’t finna go on KTT and rant about hip hop being trash or dead (cuz it’s not), just ain’t feelin it rn it’s just a slump rn 🤷🏽♂️

OF made amateur sounding music cool because it’s empowering and usually more interesting.
Being a corporate sellout still isn’t cool. Some people make it work tho.

its a burden already tryin to teach u fools about the goats of the game
Lol I haven’t been seeking out music like that as much but tbh I’ve just been disinterested in damn near everything since quarantine started. Essentially I’ve just been depressed af and just want to go back to being able to go do s*** in my free time and not be in the house 24/7

I've been diving back to older albums and getting into deep discogs of artists I've only listened to casually. I don't really have the time and energy to trial and error new artists
I’ve been doing the same thing.
I went through a phase where I didn’t download anything really for a while.
Then griselda lit a fire and that caused me to go back and dive into catalogs I’ve slept on like common’s albums and lupe’s mixtapes
