The thing is that when the goats came outs it was in an era where their most early works weren’t up to see. People didn’t think Kanye was gonna be the greatest when he was doing freestyles in 96, or when Drake was releasing music in 2005/6. It was after their breakouts
The internets completely changed the way artists are exposed and we have to account for it
What level of stardom do u think yeat is at right now?
And do u see potential in him?

I’m not sure that there’s as much a difference today as you’re implying tbh
DaBaby, Uzi, and even 6ix9ine had work out before their breakthroughs, a lot of people might get their early work wiped off the internet but I don’t think across the board we’re seeing artists just starting out compared to other eras.
Needless to say there was always some young artists who came out of the gate like Nas. I don’t think the internet rap buzz machine is as random as you seem to imply, Yeat was having meetings with labels like 2 years ago right, it’s not like we’re watching a raw talent come out of nowhere, he was vetted for this position
Yeat doesn't need artist development.
Just because some people clown Yeat's performance doesn't mean he's hurting out here. Niggas sometimes clown Youngboy too but he's still the most streamed Youtube rapper today.
The thread OP was referring to was lighthearted too. It was just a clowning thread which every other rapper gets but I guess you took it the wrong way.
What level of stardom do u think yeat is at right now?

Trippie level in regards to his commercial potential
In terms of quality and influence he could be blueprinting the 2020’s

Alot of the goats came out the jump young and ill.
Hip-hop not really an age thing.
It's your environment and hunger.
And just as many if not more did not lol

I'd say it's still more great debuts than bad debuts tho.
But like, this tour is a part of his artist development?
He decided to forego a lot of festivals so he could establish his live skills in smaller venues

I like yeat but come on lol
I'd say it's still more great debuts than bad debuts tho.
Because you only remember the good ones
And you also 9/10 times don’t know much if anything about the music they were making in the years prior to that. The internet has changed that
na he in 2024 fasho
when you play this off your phone this really is the worst song ever made
“In terms of quality and influence he could be blueprinting the 2020’s”

Let’s be real
PUNK was depressing (figuratively and literally) thug seem legit sad AF right now
GUNNA just closed the DS series
Baby dropped two new songs that sound like all his old songs
Cole dropped something dope but it’s on the same cole frequency
Drake dropped the same old Drake album
Kendrick is and has been teasing us for years
21 Savage - seems to be pacing album wise despite getting better lyrically
Durk took 10 + years to have his first universally well received album
Meek started smoking weed and dropped a mid ass album
Carti dropped a very good project with WLR but caught a lot of heat early because the album didn’t sound like the leaks
Uzi said EA was mid by his own standards and then proceeded to drop more mid
Future didn’t exactly move mountains with high off life
Pooh Shiesty came out on fire and then went to jail “life imitating art”
Travis won’t be back until next year and hopefully his sound has evolved (Verdict will be out next year)
Kodak is heating back up but he’s been out since late 2013
Keed and Gotit barely dropping new music
YEAT & Kayo out here giving us fresh s***…
Nudy also has a refreshing trap sound

cole dropped a great pure hip hop album
we don’t need artist development bc a random suburban mf like yeat can make small changes to WLR’s sound, find producer making those types of beats and now “musically he’s in 2024” - you, so why would a label waste money on artist development when he’s likely gonna be fine or at least recoup what they’ve put in him
TONKA!

But this is what I’ve been saying. People are expecting these artists who are 19-20-21 to come out the gate making some god tier s*** which just isn’t realistic
Compare Carti in 2016 to now. The reason people were so invested in him was that even though his music was relatively conventional, it had POTENTIAL. People want immediate returns when sometimes it takes 3,4,5 years to see an artist grow out of their influences and into their own
Just sit back and enjoy the ride
Carti’s first album was not conventional at all. Bro what.

They aren’t giving us new s***. It was new 2-3 years ago. They are just working w the current sounds of the time. They are not ahead of the curve like that
Because you only remember the good ones

idk how many goats u have in ur head. But the goats that impacted the culture immensely didn't flop (quality wise) on their debut.
Also if you miss on ur first u can still comeback with the sophomore. If u can survive that.
Also
That's fine if I don't know what they were doing before their debut.
That still doesn't take away from the debut.
Also you have to have some type of hype for a label to even fund your album.
In the internet age.
You get to choose what to drop and the listeners all get to hear what they want.
So u can either flood
Or be strategic
So whatever yeat drops that doesn't ring off.
That's on him.
Creative control is a bigger thing now.
But like, this tour is a part of his artist development?
He decided to forego a lot of festivals so he could establish his live skills in smaller venues
He didn’t do it for his skills he did it so he could sell out shows and then go to the festivals and get a lot more money from them
