It’s not intentional tho imo it’s just how he sounded that day.
Fair enough brother. Love discussing earl this new album is hitting on another level for me

That’s dope as long as you’re feeling it
I remember when I first heard 45
There was never really any talk about the production style because this was before people started crying about loops or whatever
But to me that song marked a major departure from IDLS. Like holy s*** he’s rapping like cam Ron/jay z on a loop with this crazy energy and bar work
I never heard that before and for me when I got SRS it was the fulfillment of the promise that was 45, after hearing that, SRS and now this new album are exactly what I wanted
So I guess we experienced these eras and changes very differently
The departure to me was when Solace dropped. Thats the beginning of SRS-Present Earl to my ears and SRS is basically Solace pt. 2 in a sense.
But you could make the case that 45 showed a new development into a new direction. It was an example of the short song structure that Earl as gone on to use for the majority of his music post IDLSIDGO.
Slums may have influenced his switch somewhat but he was always heading down the path he’s on now. For example, wind in my sails was recorded in 2015, way before he met the slums guys in late 2016/early 2017. There’s also a ton of ureleased songs from that time that are a clear indication of where his music was gonna go. There’s also quest power and 45 from 2014
totally forgot about quest/power
His style switched more from Earl to Doris to IDLS than it did from IDLS onward imo. And I’d attribute that to the fact that he started his career so young (he was probably 20 when IDLS came out)

Absolutely agreed
I fw earl but ngl his delivery has always been the thing that takes me out of the music even before srs, I wasn't really fan of it
People on this site are afraid to smoke weed so I get why they think how they think
Hope you’re doing better these days man, addiction ain’t no joke
I legitimately had an argument on here because a dude said Coke and crack were the exact same thing and said anyone who’s done coke is just a junkie
Too much weed.
It slowed down his brain, and thereafter, his flow.
He even talks in interviews like he's on a delay.

rapping in a traditional style gets boring and repetitive
im guessing thats why he's rocking the hell out of this more abstract s***, he probably finds more freedom in it

It's not the weed, Wiz Khalifa's doing fine but I get what you mean. I do think it's d*** related. Pills or something
Everything after IDLSIDGO I don't enjoy like I did his older work
Love Earl, seen him live and I WANT to love all his music. Not saying this as an objective statement - to me, his new style is boring. It's zombified
Genuinely I'm happy for everyone that enjoys SRS and everything after. Just seems like somethings off with my taste buds or somethin
It's like when some people eat cilantro and it tastes great, and other people try and it tastes like soap. All of a sudden Earl's style tastes like soap to me, but salute if people are enjoying it

yeah people forget this nigga was 16 already rapping at an elite traditional level. once you do this for so long it definitely gets boring
...y'all do know Earl be rapping normally during live shows right? Him rapping slow on the studio version of songs is a choice
example:

he definitely makes mood music for sure
From album to album yes it is quite jarring and dramatic
The evolution into that style was a little more gradual if you were tracking his live performances and all the tracks he debuted during that time
There’s definitely an album missing in between IDLSIDGO and SRS

There probably is an album that he worked on in between those 2 but I also know he worked on SRS for a long time.
Like you can hear his IDLSIDGO delivery on December 24 and Loosie which I presume were both some of the first songs recorded in December 2015-early 2016.

can't believe we got more radio shows from them than songs
I get sounding “lazy” even if that’s the correct word is a debate but man legit sounds uninterested on black emperor 😂
If you could sell Earl to somebody with Sick (song) and Black Emperor its wraps bruh

Earl be f***ing with his fans cause 45 and Really Doe are 2 years apart and he sounds hungry on both songs
On the other hand
7 pages of Earl debate?
