Ik what you mean exactly and have seen it when I’ve been asked about Islam by curious young people who lean very far left

It’s one of the things I like about my faith though because the jurisprudence is just an integral part it’s shielded really well to innovations as a system of faith. Of course you still get stuff like R/ ProgressiveIslam but that’s just seen as a joke.

yeah it's in this very strange crevice where it's like free of dogma, but at the same time it's simultaneously devoid of any actual knowledge of religious concepts and core principles of different sects i just hope that some people go further along in their journey vs buying into a trend/aesthetic

i think a big issue is that organized religion is seen as this thing that you have to 100% full on accept or else you can't believe, when there are so many different types of denominations in each religion that would most likely fit your faith, people are discouraged by default though and some don't care to look

i tolerate other religions, i don't tolerate atheist and agnostic dogma if you have a problem with that, that's your issue not mine

When you say you don't tolerate them does that mean you don't engage with them at all?

I personally don't tolerate believers that do not know what they're talking about

Other atheist people might not even give you the time of day

We in this together bro if you being stubborn I can be too but I'm not childish like that you don't have to give me your time of day it's cool I asked you to forgive me because I said stupid s***

yeah bro you're not childish but you'll swap out words and just repeat what i say

I definitely wasn’t looking for complete reconciliation with Islams teachings and my personal views when I first accepted it as my new faith

People born into it spend a lifetime reflecting and growing into the religion their own way

I take it the same and think it’s focus and fairly straight forward pillars allow for my guided path. You can accept your ignorance of some things and disagreement with some teachings but still practice in various ways prescribed so you’re not taken out of the religion.

It’s worth looking at how many modern black sunni Muslims grandparents were in a NOA cult.

When you say you don't tolerate them does that mean you don't engage with them at all?

i engage with atheists/agnostics who raise valid criticisms about different inconsistencies within religions, scriptures, metaphysics etc.

not "religion is all fake and bad"

"people died in the name of God"

"people believe stories of books written a thousand years ago"

that is piss poor dime a dozen atheism, and it's pretty much the one i come across all the time, an actual philosophically justified atheist is an absolute rarity, anyone who has engaged with religion at least above a surface f***ing level would understand how stupid those statements are

Yeah I agree with you on that one I come from a very atheistic family and I can't say the talks about religion we usually have are very stimulating I'd rather discuss it with religious people as it can really become a deep philisophical debate I like that

  • Sep 2, 2022

I'm not totally closed off to the concept of religion as I see it's benefits but I personally can't get into it I feel like there's too many inconsistencies and contradictions and it kinda f***s with my brain

see! exactly! people think you have to buy into literally every single aspect of what a religion teaches you in order to be considered a proper "Christian" or a proper "Buddhist" (albeit Dharma is a lot less centralized and hard on doctrines-ish) for that matter, when like you said, you can have disagreements with teachings alongside ignorance and still be considered of that religion

even the premise of OP itself he mentioned that he struggled with believing in the Trinity when there are denoms that do not accept the mainstream view of the Trinity

    slife.org/nontrinitarianism

it's just a minority view, however you'd still be a Christian, like i said earlier, religion in general is a lot more flexible than people will ever like to admit it is - when i first dabbled in Buddhism there were so many schools of thought and different disciplines that it made my head spin

who are "religionheads" ? im one dude, i personally don't tolerate atheists and agnostics that do not know what they're talking about

Ironic how close-minded this statement is

Atheists have to tolerate all religions meanwhile religionheads don't tolerate agnosticism & atheism

Atheism exists BECAUSE religionheads go over the top and had to be checked

Tolerate how? Atheists are just as dogmatic as intensely religious people. Y’all really think your s*** don’t stink 😂

^^ Op this is your answer.

You’re dealing with two religions who believe in life after death and the only way to be saved is to subscribe to their beliefs or risk being eternally damned. Of course Christians and Muslims are going to passionately advocate for their books when the stakes are that high. As a muslim I have no problem advocating for the Quran and the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) but I also understand why my Christian brothers and sisters do the same with their faith. Personally I think it’s more productive to talk about the merits of one’s faith instead of attacking someone else’s religion to try and make yours look better. Time and place for everything.

with islam you dont have to believe in the religon to go to heaven

    Hol' up
That is only true if they are unaware of it.

If a person rejects Islam after knowing Islam and fully understanding its truth he will be asked about it by God. Otherwise he will be judged according to his own religion or his understanding of right and wrong.

In the internet age everyone has access to the teachings of Islam so your statement is 🍅

And I do believe that they come from god, I can see that when I read passages in both but Id be lying if I said I believe they’ve no contradictions or questionable doctrine.

I feel like I believe in god and Jesus and Muhammad but I can’t say I’m fully aligned with either religion rn

There’s definitely contradictions and it’s not intentional, it’s just the fact that the Bible is a collection of writings by a bunch of diff ppl at diff times and was collected by a different group of ppl

Because God is the truth and those books come from god. Thus making everything else wrong.

That's the simplest explanation I can give you.
