I rarely go on reddit and even then it’s usually to find sports streams. There is a problem with racism on this site though and I’m not talking about white supremacy
what are u referring to?
Check out r/NFL or r/NBA whenever a popular player airs any grievances with their team/organization.
reddit gotta have at least 200% more women and way more black people but apparently we're the good ones
Yeah, the whole site, especially before the updated version, looks like it was designed for STEM folks.
I get you about the cringeworthy humor. It can be funny, but sometimes they stretch it to the point where it just isn't anymore. You see these "chain" jokes where one person says something funny and others continue along. The ones towards the bottom are often the cringiest and most forced.
I'm a guy pursuing STEM, so it feels a little weird knowing STEM folks have this reputation. I noticed things changing with us younger folks, though.
this is exactly why I dont like reddit. it's annoying seeing people make the same jokes and type the lyrics to bohemian rapsody for the 173rd time
The default subs definitely lean left, but the problem is Reddit allows racist communities to exist on their platform and take a long time to act on them.
For instance, there were multiple subreddits that were dedicated to hating on black people, watching black people get injured, and straight up watching black people die, all of which had variations of the N word or the C word in their name and only some of them were banned in 2015. Many of them were allowed to stay up for months after and were eventually banned later but still.
Reddit allows these communities to exist and their solution is usually to just quarantine them (so they don't show up in r/all but anyone can still access them) and wait for them to slowly die over the course of months or years, and then ban them when they have basically zero activity.
Check out r/NFL or r/NBA whenever a popular player airs any grievances with their team/organization.
Exactly what I was talking about

shut up and dribble vibes
reddit for that diet SNL tier liberal racism all the whites can laugh about in their coffee shops
Yea idk where that narrative comes from, every big subreddit is a neoliberal circlejerk. Even having a centrist opinion will get you banned or downvoted to oblivion.
No way they f***ing hate neoliberals on reddit

You phrased it perfectly
When I think of the average reddit user, I’m immediately faced with an image of a slightly overweight, white guy who looks like Tai Lopez that wears bootcut jeans with sandals and wears awful 2010 cerca unbuttoned flannels. Basically your average liberal a la Get Out
No way they f***ing hate neoliberals on reddit
Idk what reddit you’re using dude. Go on r/politics for 2 minutes and tell me they hate neoliberals
Reddit is plagued with subtle racism. They come at white supremacists but don't even realize when they are being racists themselves. I still frequent reddit, but avoid the comments
A lot of those public freak out subs have some of the most subtle racism I’ve seen

u got any examples? i rlly wanna see whats being said / what has been said
its full of liberals with some small pockets of actual leftism. imo its mostly just good for informative content on non politics stuff, coming there for the brain dead "entertainment" subs or the political subs is a poor choice

His comment is kinda cap. There’s always gonna be a couple clowns saying racist s*** cause it’s the Internet but those kinds of comments get mass downvoted or deleted.
I remember when Laura Ingraham told lebron to shut up and dribble I checked the nba thread on it to see if there would be any racism but all the top comments/replies were in support of lebron
What? Nobody thinks that lol. Most of the time it's seen as being mostly liberals and a notable amount of sexists/losers.

The most recent one would be when Stephen Jackson said his anti-semetic s***. The vitriol they had for him was going far beyond the expected "Anti-semetism has no place here!" rhetoric. They were calling him all sorts of "thug", "uneducated", "ghetto" and the usual coded language used for black people. Got to a point where they just started calling him a nlgger for a few days before the mods there finally started doing something about it.
