reddit shut down all the racist subs, and usually leans pretty (american) left
it’s no way full of white supremacists
i’m not sure where the narrative came from either.
yung pankcakes with the facts
The most recent one would be when Stephen Jackson said his anti-semetic s***. The vitriol they had for him was going far beyond the expected "Anti-semetism has no place here!" rhetoric. They were calling him all sorts of "thug", "uneducated", "ghetto" and the usual coded language used for black people. Got to a point where they just started calling him a nlgger for a few days before the mods there finally started doing something about it.
wow.
Idk what reddit you’re using dude. Go on r/politics for 2 minutes and tell me they hate neoliberals
Right now they are sucking Biden’s d*** bc of the election. In a few months they will go back to using terms like “austerity” and “late stage capitalism.”
What lmao
They err on the Bernie side. In fact most average every day Dems do. Neoliberalism is an elite ideology.
Ehhh they’re lowkey weird tbh
KTT seems to be the only online community where just about everyone is cool
But reddit for sure has some racist weirdos

strongly disagree
theres absolutely an overrepresentation of Bernie democrats but theres also a significant base of Trump supporters and conservatives on there
the vast majority of reddit though is neoliberal and there are really not an overly large number of people who are very critical of that ideology. even a lot of the Bernie dems tend to be on the neoliberal side rather than the socialism/communism side

There definitely are Trump supporters, but they are relegated to their own subs. I'm talking front page reddit.
I could be exaggerating, but I see a lot of opposition to markets as a principle and constant bashing of the center-left by the Bernie people.

I think it has grown and I don’t really use reddit anymore aside from as a resource every now and then
There’s definitely anti-center rhetoric on there but I think that a lot of reddit still fits the Obama good mold and that most of that rhetoric was only popularized in retaliation to trump rather than it being a true shift
It’s definitely left compared to real life though but that’s just the nature of the demo
ive seen a thread not too long ago where it was a grip of white teachers saying they hate teaching black kids i think it was unpopular opinions then recently my friend told me asian peple have asian supremist sub reddit on there lmao like wtf
i don't think anyone can deny there are racist communities on reddit but like, i also have no idea how anyone can say the main-page/default communities (which are the biggest) lean anything but liberal. not to say liberals aren't their own brand of racist but...it's not really the same and they certainly aren't even close to far right. however, i will say i can see how people would confuse certain subreddits (i.e. politicalcompassmemes) as being "right leaning"; I mean every single niche right wing community has been banned across the board but the people haven't left the site so now there's an illusion of a big userbase because all the right wing people (which is honestly a few 100 based on active usership) are now congregated in what would otherwise be neutral subreddits since they have nowhere else to go. Meanwhile the other side of the political spectrum is very split across subreddits and communities (hell, there are far more militant leftist subreddits I can name off of the top of my head than I can militant right wing ones that have not been banned), so you don't get an over-rpresentation of them in otherwise neutral subreddits since they stick to their own communities. however, neither of these people exist on default community reddit. even the biggest default-community adjacent politiacl subreddits are just wholly democrat neolibs objectively.
Between Reddit having such a large userbase and being by nature divided into distinct communities, it's quite difficult to stereotype it, certainly not any easier than Twitter
Except that default subs and political subs suck
Reddit is plagued with subtle racism. They come at white supremacists but don't even realize when they are being racists themselves. I still frequent reddit, but avoid the comments
It's the goober nerdy white people who don't even realize they're being subtle racist.
Reddit is not left-leaning
Mainstream subreddits are all left leaning but there's a lot of niche subreddits thats not left leaning at all
Reddit is not left-leaning
Do you even use Reddit? r/politics is heavily left-leaning.
Reddit is not left-leaning
cant imagine unironically thinking this lol go look at the front page

It's not at all lmao. They are all supporters of the status quo/whatever isn't trump. Half of them were going for buttigieg in the dem primaries and the other half is ideologically incoherent.
Why do people think Reddit is full of white supremacists?
Because it's largely American
cant imagine unironically thinking this lol go look at the front page
Reddit's only "left-leaning" when it comes to change in the States' healthcare system and smoking weed.
The amount of men's rights and/or racism towards whites posts that get sent to the front page are so frequent and greatly outnumber anything relating to feminism or the disenfranchisement of Indigenous peoples, Black people, Asian people etc.
During the first big wave of BLM protests a few years ago, reddit was routinely upvoting pictures of cops tying a Black child's shoe and cute police dogs as their understanding of the situation for gods sake
And that's not even mentioning all the top comments that never change
