If I had to guess I’d say maybe it’s cuz he never really had mainstream appeal like that. He’s been more of an underground legend if you even would like to call him that. Def more respected by Hip Hop heads is basically what I’m getting at

I feel you but he has his fair share of mainstream moments. I just feel like it’s weird how rappers like Nas & MF Doom do get their flowers while they are more for the hiphop heads crowd as well. But somehow Common even gets forgotten about in hiphop circles when it comes to the best MCs to have done it
