Havoc being a phenomenal producer helped. It depends on what you mean but yea Mobb Deep always had understated forward thinking production vs what was at the top of the charts at the time.

I don't recall if he has mentioned them in interviews but I wouldn't be surprised at all now that you mention it
but musically i think u can attribute this to the minimalism of the beats and the fact that trends weren’t really followed
the fewer elements that can tie a sound directly to the past, the less dated it will be
the infamous and hell on earth always hit during winter time. gonna be time to play them soon
