Might get some more hits on the new Justin album but personally think he should work with Ariana Grande or Doja Cat

  • also timbo's best work was made in studio with artists that were his friends: aaliyah, missy, Jay z, justin etc. so when artists would get a placement, he would probably give them something from those sessions

nowadays industry is so seperated and disparate you dont have that in studio magic between collaborators anymore

People just stopped caring about him in the mainstream. Don’t want to say he fell off quality wise because that’s a lie he’s still got it. To be fair Pharrell did too and got his second mainstream wind because of Tyler

EDIT: I elaborated what I meant on the next page and worded this terribly. Before you reply reactionary read that first

What? Pharrell got his 2nd wind because he crushed in it in 2013/2014
Happy, Blurred Lines, Get Lucky, Move That Dope, BBC those are bigger than any song Tyler has ever made

Also Pharrell was still doing amazing s*** on NERD self titled/Sweetener which was late 2017/2018, the neptunes come back has been slow but I wouldn’t say he fell off

he been uninspired since jt retired

    He ain’t retire

Felt like there was a period where he kinda was not around as much then after so much had changed

Doesn’t seem like he’s actively seeking out artists either tho. Just doing his own thing and opting for smaller artists or whoever he’s friends with. Like he definitely can still seek out a big name and I don’t see why they’d reject his placement

U know wtf I mean, compared to ye and Pharrell. I literally called him better than both of them in op, don’t act like I’m clowning him. He’s got no touch on todays hip hop tho

Compared to them yeah but I would bet if you ask the new generation of artists they would absolutely say he’s a legend. His legacy has been set in stone I don’t think he necessarily needs to have hits or success with todays’ artists to keep his reputation up

Kanye and Pharrell have more staying power cus they are popular with other things as well. Both dropped their own projects, kept their names around and that makes their production placements easy

Honestly it’s not like Pharrell has been making that interesting of beats recently either. And Ye isn’t going for big names either (other than a co-prod credit with LNX that was kinda random)

Yes the Daft Punk collabs are exactly what took off for him in 2013. But I’m talking about in general as far as people talking about him highly again Tyler is definitely to thank for that pre 2013.

Y’all are forgetting how influential Tyler was to a lot of artists taking off on the strength of his recommendation and all his Stans wanting to be like him. Toro and Tame would be 2 of the better examples to compare with Pharrell. His obsession with P and fondness of the other 2 put more attention on all the above. I remember 2012 KTT very well and the influx of Pharrell and NERD threads, posts, etc skyrocketed because of Tyler hype. Same thing was happening on tumblr and Twitter.

I think I should have worded what I said better honestly

As a P Stan I hated the last NERD album outside a few cuts. Felt more like a lite sequel to Clones than anything else.

bro i am a tyler fan, im usually defending him in the hate threads, but i REFUSE to give tyler credit for p having a resurgence, especially when tyler has only been arguably in the mainstream for the past 5 years or so
