Wait why am I in this thread.
It was a good discourse, between an ex-Christian and someone who studied Theology
Wanna talk Descartes and Hume? Original Sin and free will are covered extensively in Philosophy

If I wasn't so ignorant I would take you up on that. Alas I am but a wee babe stumbling around completely lost.

Man if that ain’t all of us. It was a welcomed break from planning suicide. Hit my line anytime to talk God

Ahh the only real philosophical question, whether or not to end it all. Stick around a little while longer maybe you'll find out the answer ;)

We can’t lose you, @STUFF

Good point, but it doesn’t actually resolve Plants’ point about omniscience - if God is all knowing then regardless of his ability to do all that, the second he created us (or tbh even before then) he already knew exactly who, and how many, of us would reject all of that and end up damned regardless.
As Plants said, that does seem strange
thats always been confusing to me like i know god wouldn't need our worship he's literally capable of creating the universe but why did he even create us?
This is correct - hell is a 'temporary' punishment in Islam insofar as you are not punished for eternity (unclear as to if you can go to 'heaven' after that period ends or the Islamic version of purgatory). The question becomes more complicated in Christianity because it's not even clear if 'hell' as we perceive it is prescribed to exist in the Bible. Far more likely that 'sinners' simply go to 'sleep' under the final judgement or that hell is merely a separation from god.
Thank you for the clarification
In Islam there is no absolute statement that can be made regarding a person's status in hell, the duration, degree of punishment etc, whatever that it might be. That's on God's jurisdiction
Most of what you'll hear about this matter (which would be presented in definitive terms) as far as what nonbelievers would be subjected to etc or a particular misdeed is totally fanatic rhetoric with no real basis in Quran
Interesting bro thanks for the information
Hell isn’t permanent g we don’t stay here forever
It’s clearly a psychotic addition that was later added to the Bible by the humans that wrote it. It’s all nonsense of course, but you are right OP it spits in the face of an “all loving” god

what was believed before hell was added?
what was believed before hell was added?
I haven’t done much research on that but from what little I’ve come across it was just death basically. You just didn’t go to heaven.
Depending on your religion, I think in Islam specifically, Hell isn't permanent, you have to do your time then you can go to Heaven. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.
But if you go to heaven from hell, then you know the existence of pain, suffering and evil. That lends the opportunity for rebellion in Heaven.
And if all evil and bad thoughts no longer exist in your mind upon entering heaven, then you aren’t free.

Which is why his first statement isn’t true. You don’t “serve time” then leave

So what constitutes going to heaven?
Do rapist suffer the same consequences as people who steal?

All sin is weighed the same. Besides Suicide which is said to be the biggest sin. You have a chance to repent and ask for forgiveness no matter what the sin you commit. So to answer your question yes if someone does any sin and doesn’t care to repent or learn and ask for forgiveness yes they get the same consequences

That’s bullshit and borderline torture
There’s no escape to a life nobody asked for in that scenario

What part aren’t you okay with? I’d like to try and explain it in a more understanding way
