Hmm makes sense since one of the leaders proclaims to be a "trained Marxist".
They seem to be going nowhere fast with their ambitions.
Tired of their s***, they show up to rally but the people do all the work (donate, get shot, protest etc)
It seems that their biggest stride has been selling t-shirt and asking for donations
We can do better than this.

You should be banned for giving misleading information that perpetuates racisim.

If blacks weren't discriminated against when slavery ended and were allowed to work from the jump, a lot of the issues that exist today wouldn't even be a thing. Black people aren't more prone to violence/crime than another race. Never mind the fact that most of it is focused on other black people which gives credence to it being a poverty issue.

One could make the argument that white people are the evil murderous ones given the history of what they did to native Americans, Jewish people, imperialism, slavery, and use of nuclear weapons on Japan 🤷

You guys like to keep bobbing and weaving the real issue by putting the blame on black people so that the status quo can remain. Believe me, we would love nothing more than to fix our own issues, but the people in power are white. The system is rigged so it's harder for a black person to get a seat in office compared to a white person. But of course you'd probably blame black people for the reason as to why that's the case so no point in wasting my time

You’re delusional, an insane amount of the protestors out there are asian and Hispanic, most at significant personal cost to themselves. They’re pulling their weight, I never see black people defend asians or hispanics tho

Lmao. Until the George Floyd thread it’s always been primarily black women trying to fight all instances of white supremacy and that’s includes white supremacy against asians and hispanics.

Also I’m not asking you to fight for Black people, I’d honestly just prefer if y’all weren’t anti black and went on with your day.

The statement on the website you subsequently shared actually says they want to “disrupt the Western- prescribed notion of the nuclear family requirement...to the degree that mothers, children and parents are comfortable”.

This is absolutely not the same thing as “dismantling nuclear families”

whats your issue with LGBTQ+ inclusion? i understand the argument of it being a whole other fight while the first battle is far from over, but the idea that it has to exclusively done is silly imo

what are LGBTQ+ minorities supposed to do? wait until round 1 is over before voicing their disdain towards the system?

The movement is against police brutality (iirc), we shouldn't care what gender/orientation the person is
We need to ask for police reform PERIOD
after that, gay/trans/other won't be getting shot because they're black

Last I checked, Asians were holding peaceful pro-police rallies in NY and in LA.

How the f are they going to do that in a capitalist America?
Also, not every black person is down with this idea
Why not focus on what's killing black people (all black people since it's just a matter of skin color, remember)
why are they offering a solution that goes against what the ancestors (civil rights movement in the 60s) fought for (dignity in having a black family, financial freedom and the right to practice all your amendements rights...)
are only gay/trans black people or the cis gendered non who recognize their hetero privilege, deserving of their work?
Should we all convert to their ideology and only then be humanized in the eyes of the police?
Can you say with a straight face that, they're tackling the issues America ignored when it comes to black people in inner cities?

The concept of the nuclear family, the western idea of it, has been something of a myth and hard to achieve goal for black people as a whole due to systems in place that have made it difficult for a black person to succeed.

That aside though, the idea of nuclear family is a very old and conservative idea as it's become less relevant as a whole due to a trash economy and housing market, student debt (debt in general), high divorce rates, and a lousy job market.

Less money = less nuclear families
    Less money = extended families

So yeah, the old version of the nuclear family needs to be properly deconstructed, the s*** pretty much collapsed in itself long ago. But yeah blame BLM for it, makes sense.

  • Caucasians have infiltrated this thread. Again, this is why "black on black crime" is just a dog whistle topic that does nothing more than attract people who 1. Don't actually care about black on black crime 2. Are likely racist, or highly misinformed

Desire is maybe the wrong word for me to have used. That doesn’t change the fact that there are plenty of non nuclear families, usually single mothers.

I interpreted the statement as saying if you are comfortable with having a network of people to help support raise each other’s children, we are here to support that and put that in place.

While it may not be desirable, I can imagine this would be welcomed by many people (especially single parents) who otherwise would have to work long hours at multiple jobs and/or pay exorbitant childcare fees to raise their children. It could even be argued that these issues are part of the reason why not being part of a nuclear family negatively impacts children - so this alternative structure could eliminate the differences (or at least reduce the disparity).

At the moment there remains some degree of stigma against people who are not part of a nuclear family.

I don’t believe that supporting alternative structures and removing stigma against single parents is the same thing as actively fighting for the collapse of the nuclear family, although there is clearly potential for crossover between the two concepts

I hear that... but I am always cautious of the obvious disdain religion and its pungent stench shaping social hemispheres and ideals, wilfully being forced upon minorities as a part of indoctrination, breeding LGBTQ+phobias

I'd think we should at least use its inclusion as a means to acknowledge minorities within minorities being at greater risk from violence from all sides of the spectrum, slowly but surely ushering in integration. I feel as if too many people see it as a this or that concept, when they just truly aren't comfortable with their existence and often mask their disdain through otherwise, fair points. That's a different conversation entirely tho

you do realise there's a direct correlation between single black mothers and boys doing horribly in school and turning to crime right?

who cares that the nuclear family is an 'old and conservative' idea. its a fantastic idea, and every kid thats born today should hope they have a mum and dad that love them

f***ing ridiculous that i even need to type this stuff

Im not arguing in favour of the concept, or the practicality of implementing it, I’m just pointing out that it appears to me to be much deeper than “they want to destroy nuclear families” which is what other people are characterising it as

i grew up with my single mum, and my grandma

    alternative structures are rubbish

communes in the 60s and 70s resulted in child abuse, there is no alternative proven to be better

You can't call for a nuclear family when the concept of it was hardly ever meant to include blacks to begin with.
